Santa Fe Playhouse (SFP) is currently in rehearsals for the Tony Award-winning Edwardian-style murderous musical farce, A Gentleman’s Guide to Love and Murder, and is thrilled to share a first-look into their sing-thru rehearsal. With a book by Robert L. Freedman, music by Steven Lutvak, and lyrics by Freedman and Lutvak. The production is directed by Rebecca Aparicio. See photos from inside rehearsal.

Upon the embarking of tech week and opening the production, I had the pleasure of talking to two of the people responsible for creating the hideaway and the world of The Nether. I spoke with the sound designer, Alec Smith, and the set designer, Andy Esborn. They allowed me to pick their brains for a little as I learned about their position and their inspirations for this production.

The Old Globe presents Marco Ramirez's ('Orange is the New Black,' 'Sons of Anarchy') wildly theatrical new play The Royale, directed by two-time Obie Award-winning and Drama Desk Award-nominated Rachel Chavkin, Founding Artistic Director of New York's the TEAM, Chavkin most recently won accolades for Natasha, Pierre and the Great Comet of 1812 (The New York Times, Time Out New York, and New York Post Critics's Picks, and Top Ten of 2012 and 2013). The Royale will run October 4 to November 2 in the Sheryl and Harvey White Theatre, part of the Conrad Prebys Theatre Center. Preview performances run October 4 - 8. Walnut Street Theatre's 2013-2014 Independence Studio on 3 season continues with the Olivier Award-winner for Best Comedy, THE RISE AND FALL OF LITTLE VOICE. Written by Jim Cartwright, and directed by Dan Olmstead, the production opens tomorrow, March 27th and continues through April 13th in the Walnut's Independence Studio on 3. Roundabout Theatre Company's production of Machinal, starring Rebecca Hall, written by Sophie Treadwell and directed by Lyndsey Turner, began previews on December 20, 2013 ahead of an official opening on January 16, 2014 at the American Airlines Theatre on Broadway. Indiana University Bloomington's Department of Theatre presents 'The School for Scandal' by Richard Brinsley Sheridan, directed by Dale McFadden. The play opens tonight, Feb. 22, and runs through March 2 at the Ruth N. Halls Theatre. Scroll below to see production photos!

On November 9, 2012, The New York Pops orchestra was the star of the performance at Carnegie Hall's Stern Auditorium/Perelman Stage. Music Director and Conductor Steven Reineke led the orchestra in a highly-anticipated performance featuring a program of popular and familiar classical repertoire. Roundabout Theatre Company announced the full cast this July for the new Broadway production of Rupert Holmes' Tony Award-winning musical comedy The Mystery of Edwin Drood. The winners of the 2012 Globe Honors, the annual competition recognizing excellence in high school theater, were announced on Monday, May 21 after the final round of competition was held on the Donald and Darlene Shiley Stage in the Old Globe Theatre, part of the Globe's Conrad Prebys Theatre Center. Chase Fischer of Coronado School of the Arts and Nicolette Burton of Canyon Crest Academy won in the categories of Leading Actor and Actress in a High School Musical, respectively, and will receive an all-expenses-paid trip to New York City to participate in the National High School Musical Theater Awards/The Jimmy™ Awards competition to be held on June 25 at the Minskoff Theatre on Broadway. The other winners of this year's Globe Honors were Jonathan Edzant of Canyon Crest Academy and Kelly Prendergast of Grossmont High School (Outstanding Achievement in Musical Theatre), Patrick Gates of San Diego Virtual Schools and Sara Rose Carr of Canyon Crest Academy (Outstanding Achievement in Spoken Theatre) and Chad Mata of Coronado School of the Arts (Outstanding Achievement in Technical Theatre). This year's Globe Honors was presented in association with Broadway/San Diego - A Nederlander Presentation.
