Know Theatre has announced its 14th season producing contemporary theatre in Over-the-Rhine. The season will consist of five mainstage productions, The 9th Annual Cincinnati Fringe Festival, The Know Theatre CityBeat NYE Speakeasy Party, a national tour of Calculus: The Musical!, a few special events, and some new and returning Jackson Street Market programs.

Violinist Joshua Bell will join Music Director Robert Spano and the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra September 30 and October 1, 2011, at 8:00 p.m., and October 2, 2011, at 3:00 p.m. in Atlanta Symphony Hall at the Woodruff Arts Center.

Theatre veterans Kenneth Branagh and Rob Brydon are set to star in The Painkiller at the Lyric Theatre. The production will be a new adaptation of the Francis Veber work by Sean Foley. The show will open on September 29.

Cellist Alisa Weilerstein was today named a 2011 MacArthur Foundation Fellow. The prestigious award carries a prize of $500,000 of 'no strings attached' support over the next five years and has been dubbed the 'Genius Award'.

As reported by the New York Times, when the Thelonious Monk Institute of Jazz in Washington, DC celebrates its 25th anniversary in September 12, jazz greats will pay homage to Aretha Franklin.

The New York Philharmonic's A Concert for New York, a free performance led by Music Director Alan Gilbert of Mahler's Symphony No. 2, Resurrection, given in remembrance and renewal on the occasion of the tenth anniversary of September 11, 2001, will be telecast in the U.S. on Sunday, September 11, 2011, on PBS's Great Performances at 9:00 p.m.

Casting has been announced for the forthcoming West End production of Lee Hall's The Pitmen Painters, presented by Bill Kenwright. The climax of an extraordinary journey, which started at Newcastle's Live Theatre and continued on to the National, Broadway, and all round the UK, The Pitmen Painters is highly amusing, deeply moving and always entertaining as it examines the lives of a group of ordinary men who do extraordinary things.
