In the spring of 2017, Joe Iconis noticed that he was getting tagged in Twitter and Instagram posts about his sci-fi musical Be More Chill. This was unusual because aside from regional productions, the show only had one professional run, at Two River Theater in Red Bank, New Jersey in the spring of 2015, and the cast recording had been released in October 2015.

One of this summer's most anticipated musicals, Be More Chill, has announced complete casting for the New York premiere production

BE MORE CHILL - the musical whose cult status and social media following have propelled it to chart-topping success and a long-awaited Off Broadway debut this summer - will be released on vinyl from Ghostlight Records on Friday, July 27. This release will coincide with the show's New York premiere production, which starts previews on Thursday, July 26. The show features music and lyrics by Joe Iconis, book by Joe Tracz, and is based on the novel by Ned Vizzini. Fans who pre-order through PledgeMusic will be the first to receive the vinyl double gatefold package, which features new illustrative designs, green and red colored discs, and a 16-page booklet with lyrics, production photos and a new liner note from Joe Iconis.

Be More Chill, the original musical with music and lyrics by Joe Iconis (NBC's 'Smash', The Black Suits, Broadway Bounty Hunter) and a book by Joe Tracz(The Lightning Thief, Netflix's 'Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events') will have its New York premiere production this summer. Little known facts were revealed about the upcoming off-Broadway production and the real side of what it is to pursue a career in the arts. Assuming the role of 'The Squip,' Tam joins previously announced cast members from the 2015 Two River Theater production and original cast recording including Gerard Canonico (Spring Awakening, Groundhog Day) as Rich, Katlyn Carlson (Dirty Dancing, The Unavoidable Disappearance of Tom Durnin) as Chloe, Stephanie Hsu (SpongeBob SquarePants) as Christine, Lauren Marcus (The Humans at St. Louis Rep, Company at Barrington Stage) as Brooke, and George Salazar (tick tick BOOM!, Godspell, The Lightning Thief) as Michael; as well as Will Roland (Dear Evan Hansen, The Black Suits) as Jeremy and Jason SweetTooth Williams (Freaky Friday, Benny and Joon, Bloodsong of Love) as Jeremy's Dad/Mr. Reyes.

It was announced this week that Be More Chill, the original musical with music and lyrics by Joe Iconis and a book by Joe Tracz will have its New York premiere production this summer. Stephen Brackett directs and Chase Brock will choreograph the limited 9-week, off-Broadway engagement at The Irene Diamond Stage at The Pershing Square Signature Center.
