The cast and director Eric Schaeffer of the musical revue First You Dream, set to open this month at the Kennedy Center, discuss the work of their show's muses, John Kander and Fred Ebb, the songwriting team who created Cabaret, Chicago, Kiss of the Spider Woman, Zorba, and many more Broadway hits. Below, we bring you John Kander and David Thompson, writers of The Scottsboro Boys, nominated for 12 Tony Awards, including Best Musical. Kander, half of the famed Kander and Ebb duo that created such hits as Cabaret, Chicago, Kiss of the Spider Woman, Zorba, Woman of the Year, Steel Pier and more, is a three-time Tony winner. David Thompson is the writer of Chicago, Steel Pier, Thou Shalt Not and the Look of Love on Broadway. He was previously nominated for Best Book of a Musical for Steel Pier.

New York Musical Theater Festival will kick off its sixth season with a Gala Celebration of its first five years, called BEST OF THE FEST, on Monday, April 20th at 7 PM at New World Stages (340 West 50th Street, between 8th and 9th Avenues).
