Review: THE NOTEBOOK THE MUSICAL at Belk Theater
by Perry Tannenbaum - May 22, 2026

THE NOTEBOOK The Musical was a charming chamber piece when I first read Bekah Brunstetter's adaptation of Nicholas Sparks' breakout bestseller. But the touring version is now playing to bigger houses than either its original Chicago premiere or its New York engagement. With Broadway-extravaganza pretensions. Call me back when a local company decides to mount this musical at an appropriate scale.

Review: CHICAGO by Porirua Little Theatre
by Neil Brewer - Apr 7, 2026

Chicago is a musical with music by John Kander, lyrics by Fred Ebb, and a book by Ebb and Bob Fosse. It premiered on Broadway in 1975, inspired by real-life 1920s murder cases reported by journalist Maurine Dallas Watkins. Initially overshadowed by A Chorus Line, the show achieved iconic status following its 1996 Broadway revival, which went on to become one of the longest‑running productions in Broadway history.

Review: CHICAGO at the Kennedy Center
by Mary Lincer - Apr 2, 2026

When the original production of Chicago opened on Broadway in 1975, its subtitle read “A Musical Vaudeville.” And as distinctively Bob Fosse-style as it was (and is in this excellent touring production of the 1996 revival), Chicago has always been a slight history of vaudeville.

Review: CHICAGO Brings Razzle Dazzle to the Rancho Mirage Amohitheater
by David Green - Mar 15, 2026

Desert Theatricals brings the legendary Broadway musical Chicago to the Rancho Mirage Amphitheater for a limited three-night run, opening March 13. Packed with murder, greed, corruption, violence, exploitation, adultery, and treachery — all those things we hold near and dear to our hearts — the Kander and Ebb classic remains as sharp and entertaining today as when it first premiered. Under the direction of Ray Limon, this stylish production embraces the show’s signature blend of vaudeville spectacle, biting satire, and sultry jazz.

REVIEW: Oynak Kumpanya Presents Phaedra’nın Aşkı
by Wesley Doucette - Feb 23, 2026

Phaedra is a difficult tragedy to stage with a straight face. Given the stakes, her desire for her stepson Hippolytus can easily tip into the absurd. This is not a youthful Romeo and Juliet infatuation.
