Sundance Film Festival Announces 2019 Film Lineup

The nonprofit Sundance Institute announced today the showcase of new independent feature films selected across all categories for the 2019 Sundance Film Festival. The Festival hosts screenings in Park City, Salt Lake City and at Sundance Mountain Resort, from January 24 - February 3, 2019.

Alt-rock outfit Burning House present their new single 'Mirror Song', providing a psychedelic power-gaze preview of their long-awaited album 'Anthropocene', due out in early 2019.  'Peach' is also offered as a second track for this single, offered exclusively via Bandcamp. These are the first signs of the debut album, arriving hot on the trail of the band's 'Tracer' EP, released on October 7.

Berkeley Repertory Theatre today announced the full cast and creative team for Paradise Square: An American Musical. The world premiere is helmed by acclaimed director Moises Kaufman, with choreography by the legendary Bill T. Jones and a book by Marcus Gardley, Craig Lucas, and Larry Kirwan. Music by Jason Howland and Larry Kirwan, with lyrics by Nathan Tysen, and based on the songs of Stephen Foster. Paradise Square is produced by special arrangement with Garth H. Drabinsky in association with Peter LeDonne and Teatro Proscenium Limited Partnership.

FringeArts Announces Two New Annual Festivals

Today FringeArts President and Producing Director Nick Stuccio and Artistic Producers Katy Dammers and Zach Blackwood announced the programming for two new FringeArts festivals. Blue Heaven presents twelve distinct comedy acts over two days this February 1 and 2. High Pressure Fire Service runs from March through June and features six new productions-five world premieres and one expanded remount-from some of Philadelphia's preeminent performers. These exciting new platforms expand FringeArts' already rich roster of programming-the flagship fall Fringe Festival, contemporary circus festival Hand to Hand, and year-round music, comedy, and cabaret performances-and further its mission to present world-class, contemporary performing arts that challenge convention and inspire new ways of thinking.

Boxcar Theatre Announces Partnership With SF SKETCHFEST In 2019

Boxcar Theatre is proud to announce a partnership with SF Sketchfest next year, titled SF Sketchfest at The Speakeasy: An Immersive Comedy Experience. The nationally recognized festival celebrates its 18th season, January 10 - 27, 2019, and for the first time Boxcar will co-produce six SF Sketchfest shows while its immersive hit, The Speakeasy, remains on hiatus. The Speakeasy will close for the holidays after the matinee on Sunday, December 2, with new shows starting on Thursday, January 31, 2019. The complete schedule for SF Sketchfest will be announced on November 16, and tickets will go on sale November 18 at boxcartheatre.org/sketchfest.

Edgerton Foundation New Play Awards Announce New Rounds Of 2018 Recipients

Theatre Communications Group (TCG), the national organization for theatre, is pleased to announce the recipients of the second and third rounds of the 2018 Edgerton Foundation New Play Awards. The awards, totaling $1,114,000 allow 27 productions extra time for the development and rehearsal of new plays with the entire creative team, hoping to extend the life of the world premiere play after its first run.

Greenway Arts Alliance Announces Casting For THE COLOR PURPLE

Greenway Arts Alliance (Whitney Weston and Pierson Blaetz, Co-Founders and Co-Artistic Directors) announced the cast and creative team for the THE COLOR PURPLE, which will play at the Greenway Court Theatre (544 N. Fairfax Avenue, Los Angeles). Performances run from November 9 through December 9 with the official press opening on Saturday, November 10. The Tony Award-winning musical features a book by Marsha Norman and music and lyrics by Brenda Russell, Allee Willis and Stephen Bray. Directing and choreographing the cast of 15 is NAACP Theater Award-winner Jeffrey Polk (Smokey Joe's Cafe).

Today, The Faim have teamed up with Ones To Watch to premiere the official video for their latest single, “A Million Stars.” Watch it exclusively HERE. The video was filmed in Berlin, Germany and follows frontman Josh Raven as he reminisces over a past love interest. “A Million Stars” also appears on the band's debut EP, Summer Is a Curse, which serves as a prelude to their hotly-anticipated first full-length album, slated for release in 2019.

Today Frantic Assembly announces its tour dates of The Unreturning, a brand new co-production with Theatre Royal Plymouth. Telling the interwoven stories of three men coming home from war, this new work by Bruntwood Prize for Playwriting winner Anna Jordan will be directed by Frantic Assembly associate director Neil Bettles and marks the 10th anniversary of Frantic Assembly's award-winning Ignition training programme. The Unreturning will have its world premiere at Theatre Royal Plymouth on 20 September 2018 before playing at various venues across the UK until 16 March 2019. SPACE on Ryder Farm--a nonprofit residency program for artists and activists located on a 223 year-old working organic farm in Brewster, NY--announced that applications for all of its 2019 residency programs are now open for submission. Due to increasing demand, SPACE announced in July that it was changing its submission process to allow the organization sufficient time for review.
