Flat Rock Playhouse is bringing back the mainstage in an iconic way! Television veterans, Ed Asner of The Mary Tyler Moore Show, and Jamie Farr of M*A*S*H will star in the staged reading of Two Jews, Talking at Flat Rock Playhouse. 

Playwright and novelist Michael Frayn was today awarded  the Critics Circle Award for Services to the Arts, the Critics Circle’s highest honour. Every year since 1988, the Critics’ Circle has voted for a single leading artist to receive an engraved crystal rose bowl in recognition of their distinguished contribution to the arts.

Beginning June 23, visitors can experience the Rubell Museum's two Infinity Rooms by Yayoi Kusama for the first time since March 2020. These celebrated fully immersive works create a kaleidoscopic effect that transports visitors to an alternate, limitless universe.

Tricia Thorns has been a professional actress for some 35 years and has of late added directing to her distinguished CV. Her latest production is a revival of Staircase, a two-hander from 1966 that was made into a 1969 movie starring, of all people, Rex Harrison and Richard Burton. Charles Dyer's play about two gay Brixton hairdressers starts a monthlong run at Southwark Playhouse on June 23, with Paul Rider and John Sackville as its cast. Thorns explains her attraction to the material below and to a play that, she says, has in no way aged with time. 

Summer is back, and so is live theatre! The Summer Place, Naperville's commity theatre since 1966, will return to the stage after a 15-month hiatus. They're kicking off their 3-show program with an original musical revue called Summer Lovin' to celebrate their favorite season.

The Fred Ebb Foundation in association with the Roundabout Theatre Company announced today that applications for the seventeenth annual Fred Ebb Award for aspiring musical theatre songwriters are now available. Applications will be accepted from June 1 - June 30, 2021. The winner will be selected in November of 2021.
