Hurrah for the green shoots in our beleaguered industry. Lots of venues are mounting new shows and bringing back our favourites over the next few weeks and months - albeit with social distancing and safety measures in place. Here are some of the live theatrical goodies on offer.

Palm Beach Dramaworks has announced Contemporary Voices, a live online series featuring readings and discussions of plays by some of the finest playwrights working in theatre today, representing a cross-section of America. PBD will dedicate a month to each playwright, presenting three of his or her plays on three consecutive Monday evenings, followed each Wednesday with a discussion of the work by theatre professionals and community leaders.

FX has set the premiere date for the highly-anticipated fourth installment of Fargo, the Emmy, Golden Globe, AFI, Peabody and TCA Award-winning limited series created by Noah Hawley. Starring Chris Rock, the next chapter will premiere with two episodes directed by Hawley on Sunday, September 27 at 10 p.m. ET/PT on FX.

Tony Award winner Karen Ziemba and Tony Award nominee Patrick Page head the dynamic cast of TheatreWorks Silicon Valley's benefit online reading of Shakespeare in Vegas, a rollicking comedy by Suzanne Bradbeer. Presented by TheatreWorks' New Works from Home program in partnership with Vegas Theatre Company, this fizzy comedy features the unlikely pairing of a Vegas impresario with a dream and a despondent New York actor who join forces to bring the Bard of Avon to Sin City. Directed by Las Vegas native and TheatreWorks' Artistic Associate and Director of New Works Giovanna Sardelli, Shakespeare in Vegas will be offered via video streaming from Thursday, July 23rd at 6PM (PT) until Monday, July 27th at 6PM (PT). A link to stream the show will be available at TheatreWorks.org for no charge, although donations are encouraged to support the 2019 Regional Theatre Tony-winning TheatreWorks Silicon ValleyBroadwayWorld recently caught up with Karen Ziemba from her home in New York. Her remarkable career includes 11 Broadways shows, countless Off-Broadway and regional theater appearances, and a few national tours for good measure.

On Thursday, July 23, at 6:00 p.m., the Boston Public Library (BPL), in collaboration with American Ancestors | NEHGS, will present a virtual conversation between best-selling New York Times author and former Boston Globe reporter Larry Tye, and BPL President David Leonard.

BendFilm announced today a lineup full of creative ways to see films outside in the comfort of a car or in the open air of Tin Pan Alley. The Cape Cod Theatre Project (CCTP) announces that Academy Award-nominee Paul Giamatti, and Golden Globe-nominee and star in Showtime's Billions, Corey Stoll will perform in playwright Kevin Artigue's, I, My Ruination, directed by CCTP Artistic Director Hal Brooks. The play will be live-streamed on July 23rd and 25th at 7:00pm and patrons can attend the performances via an All Access Pass with a donation of $100 or more. A limited number of individual performance passes will also be made available later this month.

Over the past two months, two choreographers and 15 dancers have reached across the Atlantic Ocean to create a short work, 'Alone/Together,' which will be premiered on July 15, via Facebook Premiere at 9:00 DST or 21:00 CEST and then will be available on Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube using @cdorfmandance and on Vimeo.

Boston Pops at Home and BSO at Home offer a wide variety of new and retrospective audio and video content, available free each week.

One theatre company in California has found a creative way to change that for their audiences. Rubicon Theatre Company, based in the beachside community of Ventura, has become the first non-profit professional regional theatre in the nation to announce a Safe-Distance Drive-In Theatre Concert Series.
