Today we celebrate a tremendous landmark for one of Broadway's favorite shows, The Lion King, as it observes 20 years on the Great White Way.

In celebration of the 20th Anniversary of the Tony Award-winning Best Musical THE LION KING on Broadway, Snapchat has today made the special LION KING Lens available to Snapchatters in select countries worldwide. This Lens was previously only available when unlocked via scanning special 'Snapcodes.' Beginning at 8am GMT/3am EST today, all Snapchatters will be able to virtually 'try on' the iconic masks of Simba and Nala - recreated exactly from Julie Taymor's original Tony Award-winning design through Augmented Reality technology. For the 20th anniversary of the opening of THE LION KING on Broadway, every Snapchat user in the US, UK, Netherlands, Australia, Canada, Belgium and Norway will have access to Broadway's first-ever Snapchat Lens in their Lens carousel.

Last night at the Minskoff Theatre, The Lion King celebrated a huge milestone- 20 years on Broadway. Creative team members Julie Taymor, Tim Rice, Garth Fagan, Lebo M., Mark Mancina, Roger Allers, and Irene Mecchi joined hundreds of alumni and others for a special performance of the show, culminating in a surprise performance by The Lion King's Tony-nominated composer Elton John.

NYC-ARTS, THIRTEEN's weekly arts and culture multi-platform showcase, brings artslovers an all-access pass to the interesting, unusual and unique cultural offerings of the greater New York City region. On November 16, the series will feature the program's co-host and New York Emmy winner Paula Zahn in conversation with Tony Award-winning director of theater, opera and film, Julie Taymor.

As previously announced, Rosie's Theater Kids - the after-school performing arts program for students from NYC's public schools - will celebrate its annual Fall Gala by honoring the legendary Broadway musical Disney's THE LION KING for the show's 20th anniversary. In celebration of the 20th Anniversary of the Tony Award-winning Best Musical THE LION KING on Broadway, beginning today, Snapchat users will be able to unlock a custom LION KING Lens within the Snapchat app using a unique Snapcode.

The North American tour of Disney's The Lion King is celebrating its 15th anniversary today, Thursday, April 27 in St. Louis, where the award-winning musical is playing a nearly sold-out engagement at The Fox Theatre through May 7, 2017. 

Disney's The Lion King continues to reign across North America with a sold-out engagement in Salt Lake City, which concluded on Sunday, April 16, at The George S. and Dolores Dore Eccles Theater. The triumphant four-week return grossed over $6.2 million at the box office and entertained nearly 75,000 theatergoers during 31 performances.

Broadway at W Times Square continues to wow audiences and hotel guests with their new, hit concert series featuring Broadway cast members and their respective shows accompanied by acoustic guitar and cajon.
