Comedy legend and The Dick Van Dyke Show creator Carl Reiner has passed away at 98. His assistant Judy Nagy confirmed to Variety that he died of natural causes on Monday night at his home in Beverly Hills.

The film version of the King and I, starring Yul Brynner and Deborah Kerr was released 64 years ago today, on June 28th, 1956.

Houston Symphony Music Director Andrés Orozco-Estrada and CEO/Executive Director John Mangum, holder of the Margaret Alkek Williams Chair, announced the details of the 2020a?"21 season, Orozco-Estrada's seventh as music director. Orozco-Estrada and the Houston Symphony enter the next decade of music-making with works by Beethoven, in honor of his  250th birthday celebration; new music from contemporary composers; Symphony Specials with pianists Lang Lang and Leif Ove Andsnes; solo performances from Concertmaster Yoonshin Song and other Houston Symphony musicians; and a new, three-year Artistic Partnership with legendary violinist Itzhak Perlman. 

Collectors and Elvis fans from around the world will have the opportunity to own a piece of music history at the “Auction at Graceland.” Highlights of the rare Elvis Presley artifacts to be included in the upcoming auction were announced today along with registration information and catalog ordering details. The auction will be held during Elvis' 85th birthday celebration at Graceland® on Wednesday, January 8 at 11:00 a.m. CST/12:00 p.m. EST in the 464-seat state-of-the-art theater in The Guest House at Graceland, and online at GracelandAuctions.com.

The Phoenix Theatre Company's production of MILLION DOLLAR QUARTET, directed by Scott Weinstein, is a high-fidelity juke box tribute to the four icons who history records assembled for an impromptu jam session on December 4th, 1956. Dynamic vocal and instrumental performances by Kavan Hashemian (Elvis Presley), Chris Lash (Jerry Lee Lewis), Skye Scott (Carl Perkins), and Gregg Hammer (Johnny Cash) of that session's songs provoke an irrepressible audience outburst of finger-snapping, toe-tapping elation. Runs through February 16, 2020.

The Old Globe's 2020 Summer Season brings to Balboa Park an extraordinarily talented group of artists who will delight audiences with their unique takes on four great works of theatre. The season incudes a classic American musical, a new adaptation of a 20th century thriller, and two of Shakespeare's masterworks on our outdoor stage.

LSPR TEATRO, the theater club of Jakarta's,London School of Public Relations, announced their production of 2019: Rodgers and Hammerstein's THE KING AND I. This production will also mark their first performance in the AMANI PALLADIUM THEATRE, LSPR's new theatre located in their newly opened Bekasi location at TransPark Juanda. The show will run on 21-24 November 2019.

ARBORS RECORDS is celebrating the music of iconic composer Frederick Loewe this fall with two new albums of songs from the legendary musicals of Lerner & Loewe performed by an astonishing array of jazz heavyweights.  Counterpoint Lerner & Loewe features Dick Hyman on piano and Ken Peplowski on clarinet and tenor sax.  Adrian Cunningham & His Friends Play Lerner & Loewe features bandleader and saxophonist/clarinetist/flautist Adrian Cunningham with Fred Hersch on piano, John Hébert on bass and Eric McPherson on drums, with guest stars Randy Brecker on trumpet and Wycliffe Gordon on trombone.  Both albums are available on streaming platforms, download and CD wherever music is sold today, Friday, October 11. 

Porchlight Music Theatre announces the next production in its 25th Anniversary season: the New Faces Sing Broadway series.
