The Zimmerli Art Museum at Rutgers is pleased to exhibit the oil painting Two Peasant Women (1928-30) by Kazimir Malevich, a loan from the Moscow-based cultural project Encyclopedia of the Russian Avant-Garde, through May 17, 2020. The painting welcomes visitors at the entrance of the museum's George Riabov Gallery, which features Russian art created from the 14th century to the early 1950s.

Veteran producer Effie T. Brown (Dear White People, Project Greenlight, Real Women Have Curves) has been named the new CEO of Gamechanger, which launched in 2013 as the first film financing fund by and for women. Brown is broadening the fund's scope to include projects by and about people of color, LGBTQ+ and people with disabilities. Gamechanger is also expanding into television and digital content with a new, fully monetized development fund that will enable it to buy, option and develop IP for television, streaming and digital platforms.

Alcina is a Baroque masterpiece by George Frideric Handel. The title character, Alcina, is a malicious sorceress who lives on an enchanted island with her sister Morgana. Alcina uses her magic spells to trick men into falling in love with her. But once she tires of them, she turns them into animals or inanimate objects.

Mca Chicago Announces Fall 2019 Performance Season

SculptureCenter has announced the appointment of Christian Rattemeyer to the position of Director effective November 1, 2019. Rattemeyer joins the museum after 12 years at The Museum of Modern Art, where he served as Associate Curator in the Department of Drawings and Prints. He succeeds Mary Ceruti who is now Executive Director of the Walker Art Center.

From the alps of Austria to the perfumery of Paris, Music Theatre Wichita continues its excellence in musical theatre standards with their second show of the summer season, An American in Paris; a suitable show selection set after the end of World War II. Based on the 1928 orchestrations of George Gershwin during his time in Paris and also the 1951 MGM film starring Gene Kelly, this stage adaptation of An American in Paris was most recently on Broadway in 2015 at the Palace Theatre in New York City. It wasn't until then that this filmed musical was tailored for the stage by playwright Craig Lucas. Regional theatres across the United States are eager to produce the production now that the copyrights are available, four years after the initial Broadway debut. Music Theatre Wichita's production is no exception by any means, incorporating a revolving stage and projections bringing Broadway right here to our own all-American City, Wichita.

Museum of Art and Design (MOAD) at Miami Dade College (MDC) will present Where the Oceans Meet, an exhibition of modern and contemporary art that resonates with the pioneering thought of two Caribbean writers, Lydia Cabrera and Edouard Glissant. The international group of thirty-eight artists and collectives in the exhibition consider notions of shifting and porous borders-geographic, national, cultural, social, racial, ethnic, and linguistic-and how crossing borders has shaped our world. The exhibition is curated by Hans Ulrich Obrist, Asad Raza, Gabriela Rangel, and Rina Carvajal. Where the Oceans Meet will be on view from May 26 to September 29, 2019.

Mint Theater (Jonathan Bank, Producing Artistic Director) will present the American Premiere of The Mountains Look Different by Micheal mac Liammoir, hailed as 'a courageous play in which there is no beating about the bush' by The Christian Science Monitor. Early Music Vancouver (EMV) celebrates 50 years of historically informed performance with the announcement of the 2019 Vancouver Bach Festival and 2019/20 Main Season. Dedicated to sharing period music using the instruments and performance traditions for which it was originally composed, EMV marks the anniversary with a season of renowned masterworks and illustrious guest artists. The expansive programming includes such diverse works as Benjamin Bagby's one-man musical telling of Beowulf; masterworks for choir and orchestra by Bach, Handel, and Purcell; early romantic creations by Chopin, Faure, and Schubert; 20th century solo piano pieces by Shostakovich; and world premieres challenging contemporary composers to write for Baroque and period instruments.
