The Magic Theatre will premiere the first live production by Playwright In Residence Star Finch and announce the cast and creative team for the World Premiere of her new play JOSEPHINE’S FEAST. This profound and potent new play is directed by legendary theatre artist Ellen Sebastian Chang.  JOSEPHINE’S FEAST will perform from August 02– August 20, 2023 at the Magic Theatre’s Fort Mason location

The Grand Teton Music Festival (GTMF) Board of Directors has announced the extension of Music Director Sir Donald Runnicles' contract previously effective through 2026, now effective through 2029. This brings his tenure with the Festival to 23 years.

Writer and performer Susan Leslie is probably best known in the theatre world for her long association with writer/director, Del Shores, having appeared in six of his plays. And this month, she will be directing Martyna Majok’s play Ironbound, with three performances July 14-16 at The Broadwater Second Stage. I decided to speak with Susan about her decision to direct this play and why the short run is being presented as a benefit for WomenShelter of Long Beach.

Theatre Under The Stars will return to the Miller Outdoor Theatre stage for the first time since 2019 with a concert in July. The show, dubbed TUTS: A Celebration of Houston Stories and Songs is directed by Mitchell Greco, and will run July 11 – 15 features a cast of beloved Houston actors singing many songs from the shows TUTS has performed over the last 55 years.

The singers and dancers of GPC take audience members back to a time of boy bands, Britney, grunge, and puka shell necklaces with song and dance numbers to their favorite pop tunes from the 90s and 00s.

The cast has been revealed for The Contention (Henry VI, Part II) at Shakespeare & Company, directed by Founding Artistic Director Tina Packer and staged June 17 through July 15, opening Saturday, June 24.

Roundabout Theatre Company has just  announced Tony & Emmy Award winner Tyne Daly and Tony & SAG Award winner Liev Schreiber will star in the new Broadway production of John Patrick Shanley’s Tony Award & Pulitzer Prize-winning play Doubt: A Parable, with direction by Tony Award nominee Scott Ellis.

Patrick Droney returns with a dynamic, self-penned new single entitled “Go Getter,” available now via Warner Records. The concept of time threads the narrative of the song, underscored by the lyric, “Playing with time ‘cause you know that it knows better,” which sets the tone for the accompanying video directed by Gus Black.

Naomi Grossman, fan favorite ‘Pepper’ from Ryan Murphy’s American Horror Story presents her new solo show American Whore Story at the Skylight Theatre beginning June 1, 2023. This irreverent love letter to AHS fans is directed by Richard Israel. Naomi made the most of her travel time flying to New York comfortably answering a few of my queries.

The Lied Center’s 2023-2024 season will feature more than 30 events including top artists and ensembles from around the world in dance, classical music, jazz, musical theater, comedy, family, illusion, and more.  

Their full-length debut, Chrome Neon Jesus, followed in March of 2018, produced by Carlos de la Garza (Paramore, The Linda Lindas, HUNNY). After a lineup change that propelled Gallagher into the role of front man for 2021's Earth Is a Black Hole, produced by Colin Brittain (Basement, A Day to Remember), a new era of Teenage Wrist was born.

The Pulitzer Prize Board has just announced that English, by Sanaz Toossi has won the 2023 Pulitzer Prize for Drama. Other finalists included: On Sugarland by Aleshea Harris and The Far Country by Lloyd Suh.

The final production in First Stage's 2022/23 season is THE GRACIOUS SISTERS, freely adapted from Aeschylus' The Eumenides by noted playwright/ filmmaker and First Stage Resident Playwright Alice Austen, currently running through May 21st. Check out photos from the production here!

With the sold-out production of Noël Coward's Private Lives currently running until 27 May, Artistic Director Michael Longhurst and Executive Director Henny Finch have announced the final two shows in the programme for 2023, and the conclusion of Donmar's 30th birthday season.

Wolf Eyes (the Michigan-based experimental sound and visual art collective currently led by Nate Young and John Olson) announced Dreams In Splattered Lines, their first widely-distributed non-compilation album in six years. It includes 'Engaged Withdrawal,” “My Whole Life,” & “Days Decay' from the upcoming full-length.

New Jersey Repertory Company “NJRep”, located at 179 Broadway in Long Branch will present PRIDE 2023 June 3 through 25. This month-long celebration includes an Art Gallery Show, a Photography Exhibit, and five one-act plays running throughout the month.

Stage Door Theatre's final main stage show of their season is Peter and the Starcatcher by: Rick Elice and Wayne Baker.

PlayGround has announced the full lineup for its 27th annual FESTIVAL OF NEW WORKS, running May 8-28, in-person at Potrero Stage, where the festival has been based since 2008, and simulcast online.

LA rockers Teenage Wrist bring us their latest single “Sunshine” - the first new music from the band since the sophomore album Earth Is A Black Hole (2021). The feel-good track finds them looking towards the light while “letting go of past trauma, being present and finding love inside yourself,” according to front man Marshall Galagher.

The final production in First Stage's 2022/23 season will be THE GRACIOUS SISTERS, freely adapted from Aeschylus' The Eumenides by noted playwright/ filmmaker and First Stage Resident Playwright Alice Austen.

Alongside drummer Noah Leger, they dance and twist around each other like a double helix, forming the DNA of what makes FACS so special. Collectively they approach rhythm from outside the groove as opposed to inside it, creating a lattice where Case weaves guitar lines like creeping vines, making the moments on Still Life In Decay.
