After yet another summer of record participation, Side by Side with the Chicago Philharmonic will perform for the third time at South Shore Cultural Center on December 1 2019 for a holiday community concert with guest conductor Emanuele Andrizzi. The program, presented as a part of the Chicago Park District's Night Out in the Parks initiative, invites students and community members to play alongside professional Chicago Philharmonic musicians in a series of free, public concerts in Chicago's beautiful parks. Joining the orchestra and community members for this special holiday concert will be members of the Hyde Park Youth Symphony, bringing together diverse young musicians from the South side of Chicago.

From Friday, October 11 through Thursday, October 17, BAM presents New Orleans-based artist Garrett Bradley's revelatory modern silent film America (2019), a poetic, visually sumptuous work that challenges the idea of Black cinema as a “wave,” or “movement in time,” proposing instead a continuous thread of achievement. 'From the moment I saw this blazingly original, poignantly dreamlike short at this year's Sundance Film Festival,' says series programmer Ashley Clark, 'it felt imperative to offer our audiences the chance to luxuriate in this ambitious short-form work on the big screen.' Each program throughout the series features the 30-minute short paired with films, talks, and special guest appearances.

Broadway's Golden Age of Theatre comes alive next month when New York's Feinstein's/54 Below presents legendary two-time Tony Award winning actor John Cullum in his first ever one man show, John Cullum: An Accidental Star.  Performances will be Sept. 2 nd and Sept. 4th through 7th, at the 254 W. 54th St. supper club, each night at 7.

The French Institute Alliance Fran aise (FIAF), New York's premier French cultural and language center, today announced the 2019 Crossing the Line Festival, featuring 11 performances and a gallery exhibition from a geographically, generationally, and artistically diverse group of artists whose work transcends genres and boundaries. All performances are world, US, or New York premieres; they are united by their convention-breaking fearlessness as they confront topics from social injustice to personal demons. Many of the performances pay homage to legendary artists of our time and previous eras, while the theme of migration and its transformational effects on identity informs several others. City Theatre is excited to announce the details of The Bash, a benefit evening for the South Side theatre company, entering its 45th season. The Bash is taking over Bingham Street for a block party like no other. Pop-up performances, signature cocktails, food trucks, and an outdoor dance party will fill its multi-location cultural campus located between 13th and 14th Streets.
