Due to popular demand, Joan Baez will extend her worldwide “Fare Thee Well” 2018 tour into 2019 including a newly confirmed show at Selma, AL's historic Walton Theatre on April 9. The intimate performance will mark Baez's first return to the area since joining Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. in Montgomery for the 1965 civil rights march. On November 30, Manifesto Records and Kalapana Music will release Kalapana: The Original Album Collection, a definitive 9-CD boxed set containing the influential Hawaiian pop/rock group's first seven albums including three albums (Many Classic Moments Original Soundtrack, In Concert, Northbound) previously never released in the US, as well as a 40-page booklet offering detailed liner notes and archival photos to take fans through every stage of their incredible journey.

The Eli and Edythe Broad Stage in Santa Monica presents Billy Valentine, on Friday, November 2 at 8:00pm.  Billy Valentine is the third evening of blackbox @ the edye, which transforms The Edye into a club featuring up-and-coming jazz and blues artists.  The series is curated and hosted by The Reverend Shawn Amos; he and his house band perform at select shows during the season as well.

Michael Feinstein and the Pasadena POPS close out their popular outdoor summer concert series at the Los Angeles County Arboretum on Saturday, September 8 with Broadway Goes to the Movies. The POPS season finale will provide a quintessential Feinstein experience with some of Broadway's greatest performers recreating songs from hit shows that traveled from 42nd St. to Hollywood. "This program is going to celebrate all the different musical aspects of Broadway and Hollywood," says Feinstein, who has put together a program spanning the Broadway canon from My Fair Lady to The Sound of Music to Jersey Boys. The National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences announced today that Paula S. Apsell, Senior Executive Producer of the multiple Emmy® Award winning series, NOVA, and Director of the WGBH Science Unit, will receive the Lifetime Achievement Emmy Award at the 39th Annual News & Documentary Emmy Awards.  Apsell is being honored for her distinguished career of over four decades in science journalism, and for her 33 years at the helm of NOVA, PBS' premier science documentary series, produced at WGBH Boston. The award will be presented on Monday, October 1, 2018 at Frederick P. Rose Hall, Home of Jazz at Lincoln Center, located in the Time Warner Center in New York City.
