Folks Operetta is proud to announce its upcoming concert Forbidden Opera: Reclaiming the lost operas of the Second World War, directed by Folks Operetta Artistic Director Gerald Frantzen and written by Frantzen and Hersh Glagov, at the Illinois Holocaust Museum, 9603 Woods Dr. Skokie, IL.

Cennarium, one of the largest streaming services for the performing arts, is making four opera performances available for free during the weekend of Nov. 4 in an effort to make the performing arts more accessible. This weekend coincides with National Opera Week, an initiative to help existing and new audiences connect with opera.

To celebrate the founding of Amore Opera in 2009, Artistic Director Nathan Hull has programmed six main-stage opera productions this season. Over the past decade, Amore has created a niche for itself in New York City's cultural realm, offering lively stagings of opera classics, neglected gems of the repertoire, appealing children's fare, and ever-popular Gilbert & Sullivan presentations in the well- appointed and intimate 200-seat Riverside Theatre at Riverside Church, 91 Claremont Avenue, (near 121st Street,) New York, NY 10027.

The Amore Opera presents an evening of morte and amore with a circus-themed pairing of Leoncavallo's Pagliacci and the rarely performed operetta, The Circus Princess by Hungarian composer Emmerich Kálmán. This double bill conducted by Maestro Gregory Ortega and directed by Nathan Hull features new productions of both of these one-act works. It will open on December 13 at 7:30pm at The Connelly Theater and runs for twelve performances through January 5, 2014.

Pop House Productions and the Astrid Lindgren Company are celebrating Pippi Longstocking's 75th anniversary in the summer of 2020 with a fun, musical circus show in collaboration with Cirkus Cirkör - PIPPI AT CIRKUS.

Folks Operetta's 2018 season kicks off with Emmerich Kalman's operetta The Csardas Princess, July 7 - 22, playing at Stage 773, 1225 W. Belmont Ave. The Csardas Princess features the book written by Leo Stein and Bela Jenbach with music by Emmerich Kalman and an English translation by Hersh Glagov and Gerald Frantzen. The Folks Operetta version is directed by Gerald Frantzen and conducted by Mark Taylor. Opening night is Saturday, July 7 at 7:30 p.m. The regular performance schedule is Thursdays - Saturdays at 7:30 p.m. and Sundays at 2 p.m. Tickets are $40 for adults, $35 for seniors (65 years and older) and $25 for students (with student ID).

Folks Operetta continues its Reclaimed Voices Series with Paul Ábraham's exotic jazz operetta, The Flower of Hawaii featuring soprano and former Ms. Illinois Marisa Bucheit (2014) as Princess Laya/Suzanne.

Amore will be using the score and orchestral parts recently restored by the Deutsche Oper Berlin.

Amore proudly presents the American Premiere of Das Labyrinth, the 1798 sequel to The Magic Flute. With lyrics by the same original librettist, Emanuel Shikaneder, and story by Peter von Winter, the plot continues with the same cast of loveable and formidable characters as they face new obstacles and adventures. Having had its first modern revival last season in Salzburg, Amore is thrilled to present its American debut. Das Labyrinth will be performed in tandem with a new production of The Magic Flute. This is an enchanting series is not to be missed!
