Underscore Theatre Company is pleased to present its 5th annual CHICAGO MUSICAL THEATRE FESTIVAL, created to showcase and support the growing field of musical theatre creators from Chicago and beyond. This year's Festival features full productions of nine new musicals plus two free readings. The Festival will be performed simultaneously on two stages at The Edge Theater: the Broadway (5451 N. Broadway) and the new Off Broadway (1133 W. Catalpa Ave.) in Chicago Edgewater neighborhood. Each full production will receive at least five performances during the Festival. Single tickets and festival passes are currently available at www.cmtf.org. The press 'Sneak Preview,' featuring a sampling of songs from the 2019 Festival, is Monday, February 4 at 8 pm.

Acclaimed film, television, and stage star Taye Diggs will host the 24th annual Critics' Choice Awards, the Broadcast Film Critics Association (BFCA) and the Broadcast Television Journalists Association (BTJA) announced today. Diggs is currently starring in The CW drama “All American” and was recently seen in the romantic comedy “Set It Up.”

The perfect family show at Christmas is a big ask for theatres. The pressure is on to cater for the biggest range of audiences they see all year. They expect fun, jokes, a good story, great visual effects, excellent acting, maybe some catchy songs (but not annoyingly so) and a happy ending to boot. If you are looking for all these things rolled into one glorious package of festive wonder, head down to the Rose Theatre in Kingston because they have cracked the perfect Christmas show.

Further casting details for the hip-hop musical In The Willows have been revealed, as deaf street dancer Chris Fonseca will be among those joining the previously announced Clive Rowe. Choreographed by Rhimes Lecointe, the production will incorporate British Sign Language (BSL) into the choreography and BSL interpreted performances for a unified production for D/deaf and hearing audiences alike. The production opens at the Exeter Northcott on 22 February 2019, touring the UK until 1 June, with a press night on Thursday 21 March at the Belgrade Theatre, Coventry.

Moonlight Presents offers two holiday events in December at the Moonlight Amphitheatre. Sponsored by Dr. Bronner's, the shows include the Doo Wop Project Christmas, featuring stars of Broadway's "Jersey Boys" and "Motown: the Musical," on Sat., Dec. 1 at 7:30 p.m. Amongst the singers is San Diego native Charl Brown who began his musical theatre journey as a student at the San Diego School of Creative and Performing Arts. He would go on to appearing in a number of shows locally, including The Moonlight's "Ragtime" in 2002, before going on to Broadway. Tickets are priced $15 - $40.
