Judy Kuhn & Jenna Russell to Join Seth Rudetsky In London's West End February 3
Producer Mark Cortale has announced a marquee trio for his acclaimed West End concert series - with two unique shows in one day, on Sunday February 3. First, Olivier Award winner & Tony Award nominee Jenna Russell, star of Sunday In The Park With George, Merrily We Roll Along and Fun Home at the Young Vic, performs at 4 PM. She will be followed at 8 PM that evening by four-time Tony Award nominee Judy Kuhn, star of Trevor Nunn's sold-out Fiddler On The Roof at the Menier Chocolate Factory, and Broadway's Fun Home, Chess and Les Misérables. Both of these stellar leading ladies will be joined Seth Rudetsky as music director and host for two intimate concerts as part of the long-running Broadway @ Leicester Square Theatre series in London.
Broadway @ Leicester Square Theatre began in 2013 with Patti LuPone and returned with Audra McDonald in 2017 and John Barrowman and Ramin Karimloo in 2018. What differentiates this concert series is the seamless mix of intimate behind-the-scenes stories from Broadway's biggest stars - prompted by Rudetsky's probing, funny, revealing questions - and their stellar singing of the musical theatre repertoire. Jenna Russell is an award winning actress whose accolades include 2007 Olivier Award for Best Actress in a Musical for her performance as Dot/Marie in Sunday In The Park With George at Wyndhams Theatre. She reprised her role on Broadway at Studio 54 where she won 2008 Theatre World Award for Broadway Debut Performance. She also received a 2008 Tony Award nomination and 2008 Drama Desk nomination for the same role. She has received Olivier Award nominations for her performances as Mary Flynn in Merrily We Roll Along and Sarah Brown opposite Ewan McGregor in Guys and Dolls in the West End. She was also long listed for Best Musical Performance for Evening Standard Theatre Awards for her roles as Little Edie in Grey Gardens at Southwark Theatre and Mary Flynn in Merrily We Roll Along at The Pinter Theatre. Other recent theatre credits include Helen Bechdel in Fun Home at The Young Vic, and Mephistopheles in Dr Faustus starring opposite Kit Harington at The Duke of Yorks Theatre.
Judy Kuhn is currently starring as Golde in London in the sold-out production of Fiddler on the Roof at the Menier Chocolate Factory, a role she also played on Broadway in 2016. On Broadway, the four-time Tony Award nominee starred as Helen Bechdel in Fun Home (Tony & Drama League Award nominations) a role she created in the original Public Theater production for which she won the 2014 Lucille Lortell Award. Also on Bway she starred in the Roundabout's hit revival of She Loves Me (Tony nomination); and the original Broadway productions of Chess (Tony & Drama Desk nomination); Les Misérables (Tony & Drama Desk nomination); Rags (Drama Desk nomination); Two Shakespearean Actors (Lincoln Center Theatre), Alan Menken & Tim Rice's King David; and The Mystery of Edwin Drood. Seth Rudetsky is the afternoon host on Sirius/XM Satellite Radio's On Broadway as well as the host of Seth Speaks on Sirius/XM Stars. As an author, he penned My Awesome/Awful Popularity Plan and the sequel The Rise And Fall Of A Theater Geek (Random House) as well as three volumes of Seth's Broadway Diary featuring inside scoop and hilarious stories from all of the stars he's worked with. He co-wrote and co-starred in Disaster! (NY TIMES "critics pick") which also premiered to rave reviews in London. In June 2016, he and his husband, James Wesley, co-produced a recording of "What The World Needs Now" with stars like Idina Menzel, Lin-Manuel Miranda, Carole King, Audra McDonald which went to number one on iTunes and raised more than $100,000 for the Orlando shooting victims (and is still raising money. About the Series: Mark Cortale (Producer) recently co-produced the critically acclaimed new Off-Broadway musical Midnight At The Never Get by Mark Sonnenblick at The York Theatre. He produced Deconstructing Patti on Broadway last September at the Nederlander Theatre with Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS starring Patti LuPone and Seth Rudetsky. He created the Broadway @ concert series in 2011 at The Art House in Provincetown where he serves as Producing Artistic Director. The series, featuring creative partner Seth Rudetsky as music director and host, had its eighth season this past summer and guest artists over the years have included Patti LuPone, Audra McDonald, Sutton Foster, Megan Mulllally, Christine Ebersole and Jessie Mueller. The Broadway @ series also premiered in 2013 in New Orleans, in Australia (Sydney & Melbourne) with Megan Mullally and in London's West End with Patti LuPone at the Leicester Square Theater.
