The performance features Beethoven's monumental Symphony No. 3, “Eroica,” preceded by his Coriolan Overture, Op. 62. My mind kept turning these quotes over after I saw Riverside Theatre's spectacular production of Andrew Lloyd Weber and Time Rice's EVITA, running through Sunday, Jan. 27 in Vero Beach. With its supremely talented cast, phenomenal production values, and shining star, there is no doubt that the musical is engaging. So, in that respect - at least by Albee's definition - the production is political. However, I couldn't help but feel as though the inherent politics had been boiled out of this EVITA. That certainly didn't hamper my enjoyment or appreciation for the production, but it did leave me thinking that perhaps the very point of the show had been missed.

Along with Haydn's 'L'Imperiale' (No. 53), the program also features his Sinfonia Concertante in B-flat major and a rare performance of Kalliwoda's Symphony No. 5 in B minor.

I cannot even think of enough accolades to share about the current production being staged by Greenway Arts Alliance (Whitney Weston and Pierson Blaetz, Co-Founders and Co-Artistic Directors) at the Greenway Court Theatre (544 N. Fairfax Avenue, Los Angeles) through December 9. The totally entertaining and artistically brilliant production, directed and choreographed by NAACP Theater Award-winner Jeffrey Polk, pulled me in from the moment it started until the end, given the amazingly talented cast who bring the characters so realistically to life that you can actually feel all the emotions each is going through from moment to moment. You will laugh, be fearful, cry and celebrate with all of them by the time the show ends.
