Live At the Orinda concert series, currently in its debut season of presenting world-renowned musical artists at the beautiful art-deco Orinda Theatre, announces the first half of their 2019 Season. This will also mark their One Year Anniversary Season. The season kicks off on Saturday, January 19, 2019 with legendary actor/singer Rita Moreno in her first Bay Area concert in many years, followed by a matinee performance on Sunday, January 20, 2019. The opening weekend performances will also serve as a fundraiser for the historic Orinda Movie Theatre to purchase permanent concert lighting for the venue to enhance the live music experience even further.

Hand2Mouth Theatre's THE LAZARUS COMPLEX is part of a larger project by writer/creator Ben Moorad called 'Envelope of Suicides,' which was inspired by an envelope full of newspaper clippings about suicides and suicide attempts his grandfather collected between 1941 and 1948.

The Mabel Mercer Foundation put itself in a tricky spot to start this year's New York Cabaret Convention: how do you define what cabaret today looks like?

Segerstrom Center for the Arts launches its 2018-2019 Chamber Series with the acclaimed Escher String Quartet on November 1, 2018 at 8:00 p.m. in Samueli Theater. Since its founding in 2005, the quartet has quickly garnered the reputation as one of the finest young string ensembles performing today. Their instrumental interplay, which combines technical precision with warmth and vitality, has reaped accolades nationally and abroad, and elicited invitations from Itzhak Perlman and Pinchas Zukerman to be the quartet-in-residence at their respective summer festivals. In a review, The Strad wrote, "…a level of individual technical precision and a collective musical purpose that is endlessly compelling … Sheer brilliance." Quartet members include Adam Barnett-Hart and Danbi Um, violins; Pierre Lapointe, viola; and Brook Speltz, cello.

Flat Rock Playhouse will continue the 2018 season with a Flat Rock Favorites all-star performance featuring the musical styles made famous by The Grand Ole Opry. Combining the talents of performers from Million Dollar Quartet, Music on the Rock: Johnny Cash & Roy Orbison, and Music on the Rock: Garth Brooks and Alan Jackson, Pickin' and A Grinnin': A Night at the Opry guarantees a high energy, merry riot of musical expression. Running from October 18th to 28th on the historic Flat Rock Playhouse Mainstage, Pickin' and A Grinnin': A Night at the Opry will offer the perfect chance to bring the whole family together for a hand clappin' foot stompin' good time!

Multiple award-winning film and theatre lyricist Tim Rice, in conjunction with the Finger Lakes Musical Theatre Festival, will present an industry-only NYC development workshop of his new musical, 'From Here to Eternity.'

The Public Theater announced today a final two-week extension for the North American premiere of GIRL FROM THE NORTH COUNTRY.

Fall is coming to the mountains, and the Flat Rock Playhouse is prepared to help audiences stay warm with the upcoming Music on the Rock Concert: Disco! Featuring hits that will have audiences doing the hustle and jumping on that soul train, Disco will showcase the music of The Bee Gees, Kool & the Gang, the Village People, KC and the Sunshine Band, Donna Summer, Gloria Gaynor and more! Cameron Mackintosh's spectacular new production of Andrew Lloyd Webber's THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA, is now on sale for the triumphant return Dallas engagement at the Music Hall at Fair Park. With newly reinvented staging and stunning scenic design, this new version of PHANTOM is performed by a cast and orchestra of 52, making this one of the largest productions on tour in North America. PHANTOM comes to Dallas as part of the Dallas Summer Musicals (DSM) and Broadway Across America (BAA) Broadway season.

Studio 52 will hold auditions for three productions this coming September 7th and 8th at the Studio 52 building. Whether you're brand new to the stage or an advanced performer, bring the whole family to audition for these exciting shows: Miss Nelson is Missing, Junie B. in Jingle Bells Batman Smells, and A Flat Rock Playhouse Christmas! The Morris Museum will launch its new Inside Cinema Film Series on Wednesday, September 5, 2018 at 10:00AM in the Bickford Theatre. During this season, this film series will focus on film Noir, and will be hosted monthly by David Landau, a professor of film at Fairleigh Dickinson University.  For each screening there will be a discussion with David before the film to provide further insights.

The Sheen Center for Thought & Culture has announced its 2018 Fall/Winter season, a rich program of theater, film, music, poetry, art, and talk events featuring artists and thought leaders including Princeton professors Cornel Westand Robert P. George; Grammy Award winner George Winston; two-time Tony Award nominee, Grammy nominee, and author Reg E. Broadway legend Andrew Lloyd Webber's high-octane Broadway and West End hit School of Rock - The Musical is coming to North Texas. The hilarious new musical will premiere at the Music Hall at Fair Park August 15-26, 2018, presented by Dallas Summer Musicals and Broadway Across America. The tour will then head to Fort Worth where it will play at Bass Performance Hall August 28 - September 2, 2018 presented by Performing Arts Fort Worth.

The U.K. leg of IRON MAIDEN's much vaunted 'Legacy Of The Beast Tour' kicks off next week in Newcastle on Tuesday 31st July with a Spitfire buzzing the stage during the opening number Aces High. The plane is a 90% sized replica of an actual Supermarine Spitfire Mk Vb registration number AA 853 from 302 Squadron that saw active duty in 1941.
