Silk Road Rising to present three staged readings of Rituals of Signs and Transformations, written by Saadallah Wannous, translated from Arabic into English by Nada Saab and Robert Myers, and directed by Sahar Assaf, on March 8 and 9, 2014.

Singer Karyn Levitt, with pianist Eric Ostling, will perform Eric Bentley's Brecht-Eisler Song Book, a unique evening that features the songs of Austrian composer Hanns Eisler (1898-1962), set to poetry by Bertolt Brecht and other noted writers, in English versions by Eric Bentley, Monday February 3 at 7:30 PM at the Leonard Nimoy Thalia/Symphony Space, 2537 Broadway (entrance on 95th Street). Eric Bentley, now 97 years old, is the first translator into English of Brecht's plays and poems, introducing Brecht's work to American stages in the 1940's and 50's. Bentley has now unlocked Hanns Eisler's starkly beautiful songs, many set to poems by Brecht, to be performed by soprano Karyn Levitt, with whom he has worked closely since 2011.

Marin Theatre Company begins the second half of its 2013-14 Season with the National New Play Network Rolling World Premiere of Lasso of Truth, which was co-commissioned by MTC and NNPN in 2010 from Minnesota-based playwright Carson Kreitzer. Running for a limited time from February 20 to March 16, this multimedia theatrical event explores the history of Wonder Woman - from her creation as a comic book superhero character to her lasting influence in American pop culture. The play is directed by MTC artistic director Jasson Minadakis and features local actors Lauren English, Jessa Brie Moreno and Liz Sklar, as well John Riedlinger (Minnesota) and Nicholas Rose (Ohio). Opening night is Tuesday, February 25. Based in Mill Valley, MTC is a 47-year old professional nonprofit theater that is a destination for exhilarating performances, inspired new American plays and powerful theatrical experiences.

The Collegiate Chorale raised more than $200,000 at its 2013 Annual Fall Gala on November 6, 2013 at Carnegie Hall. The festive Gala evening welcomed 125 guests, and honored Directors Emeriti Anna M. and William H. Mann for more than ten years of dedicated and inspired Board service. The cocktail reception and seated dinner was followed by a much anticipated concert performance of Arrigo Boito's Mefistofele and a dessert buffet during intermission. Museum of the Moving Image's ongoing series See It Big! presents classic and contemporary films on the big screen in the beautiful Sumner M. Redstone Theater. In November and December, the Museum will showcase 22 films photographed by some of the world's greatest cinematographers, including Gordon Willis, Vittorio Storaro, Vilmos Zsigmond, Nestor Almendros, Raoul Coutard, James Wong Howe, and more. The series, See It Big!: Great Cinematographers, runs from November 8 through December 29, 2013.

The Beautiful People, a forgotten classic by American playwright William Saroyan, is living another life in a new Austin production. This brand new revival of The Beautiful People features favorite Austin actors Janelle Buchanan, Rommel Sulit and David Jarrott, in addition to talented performers from the University of Texas Department of Theatre and Dance. The gifted production team of UT students, both graduate and undergraduate, will transform the Museum of Human Achievement into a site-specific performance space. Directed by Steven Wilson, a third year Directing MFA, the company re-imagines William Saroyan's play, and breathes new life into his forgotten work. Check out a first look below!
