Karen Mason Is Live At The Orinda
Karen Mason, star of Broadway's Mamma Mia!, Sunset Boulevard, and Wonderland and 12-time MAC Award winner will brighten up the historic Orinda Theatre for the holidays and the Live At the Orinda 2018 concert series season finale.
Karen Mason will make her Orinda debut coming directly from her role as Madame Giry in the North American Premier of Love Never Dies, Andrew Lloyd Webber's epic sequel to The Phantom Of The Opera. On Broadway, Mason originated the role of Tanya in Mamma Mia!, replaced in the roles of Norma Desmond in Sunset Boulevard and of Velma Von Tussle in Hairspray, and created the role of the Queen of Hearts in Frank Wildhorn's Wonderland in 2011. One of the stage's most dynamic and engaging live performers, Karen Mason is also regarded as one of the premier cabaret artists of our time. In addition to winning the MAC (Manhattan Association of Cabarets and Clubs) Award as Major Female Vocalist for six consecutive years, she won two more in 2018: Celebrity Artist and Major Recording, for her acclaimed It's About Time.

The Live At the Orinda concert series was founded in early 2018 by producers Derek Zemrak and Michael Wiliams along with Zemrak/Pirkle Productions. Inspired by their mutual love of intimate cabaret-style concerts, theatre owner Zemrak and cabaret producer Williams decided to join forces. "Our goal has been two-fold: to bring world-class Broadway and jazz artists who excel in this intimate style of performing and who don't often perform in the Bay Area to the Orinda Theatre; and to create a sense of community among live music lovers. It's a beautiful community here and an untapped market, we've discovered." Located 17 miles east of San Francisco, the Lamorinda community (the towns of Lafayette, Moraga and Orinda) is anchored by the historic Orinda Theatre (built in 1941) and its landmark art-deco neon sign.
Live At the Orinda recently announced their 2019 Season with Oscar, Emmy, Grammy and Tony Award winner Rita Moreno on January 19 - 20, 2019, followed by Telly Leung, Carolee Carmello, Ann Hampton Callaway and Liz Callaway, and Brent Barrett.
