It’s a very exciting thing when a new cabaret venue is born, though the main thrust of the new venue looks to be more rock, pop, jazz, blues, r&b but with artists like Reeve Carney, Erika Henningsen, and Mason Alexander Park making appearances there, the Broadway crowds will find their way down to Chelsea… and maybe discover some new artists to love... Chelsea Table + Stage is a beautiful and unique, state-of-the-art restaurant and performance space with a staff that was fantastic and efficient. We were treated like old friends from the moment we came in the door.

It's one hell of a moving, thrilling, never-want-it-to-end evening of theatre!

It was just announced by the Pulitzer Prize organization that Katori Hall's The Hot Wing King has officially won the 2021 Pulitzer Prize for Drama. This year's finalists included Circle Jerk by Michael Breslin and Patrick Foley and Stew by Zora Howard.

As New York City continues to reopen, the Museum of Jewish Heritage - A Living Memorial to the Holocaust will present a summer filled with movies, music, and more - welcoming audiences back in person for concerts in Battery Park, family programs, and viewings of the epic, nine-hour film Shoah.

It is time for Robert Kelley to take a richly-deserved curtain call. June 30th will be his last day as Artistic Director of TheatreWorks Silicon Valley after a mind-blowing 50 years in that role. It is not hyperbole to state there isn't another individual who has had a more profound influence on the Bay Area theatre landscape. Kelley founded TheatreWorks as a scrappy, community theater company in April, 1970 and guided its transformation over the years into a Tony-winning powerhouse and nationally-recognized incubator of new works. BroadwayWorld had the pleasure of speaking with Kelley earlier this spring to discuss his half-century history with TheatreWorks.

It was just announced by Pulitzer Prize Administrator Dana Canedy that Michael R. Jackson's A Strange Loop has officially won the 2020 Pulitzer Prize for Drama. This year's finalists included: Will Arbery's Heroes of the Fourth Turning and David Henry Hwang and Jeanine Tesori's Soft Power.

Last night, supporters of TheatreWorks Silicon Valley gathered to hear the 2019 Regional Theatre Tony Award-winning company and its Board of Trustees announce the launch of its 50th Anniversary Campaign, a $5 million fundraising campaign to ensure the future success of the nationally-acclaimed theatre, including commissions for new plays and musicals. 

3 tapestry panels, of multi-color and tribal patterns adorn the backdrop of a minimalized set surrounding the story of two women of color in their 30's. The women subliminally named SBF 1 and SBF 2 enter the space and like a conversation over Friday night cocktails with friends the show commences. A 90 minute riff on Modern Pop culture references touches on several decades in the young women's lives. The 19 century Modern woman in the 1970's, 80's, and 90's are described through comedic and sometimes endearing vignettes. Fluid Expressions a newer Theatrical Company in the Tampa Bay area who's missions is, a?oeArt for the conscious mind,a?? chose Lisa B. Thompson's script for their season opener, and through solid performances by the two women, the audience enjoyed their evening.

BroadwayWorld is saddened to report that theatre critic John Simon has passed away at the age of 94.

ABC is the home for unforgettable holiday programming as the network celebrates the joy of the season. In November, the network serves up a bounty of Thanksgiving-themed episodes and the classic animated special “A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving.” In December, ABC decks the halls with special Christmas and Hanukkah-themed episodes—the return of fan-favorite series “The Great Christmas Light Fight” and “The Great American Baking Show: Holiday Edition”; and an all-new holiday movie, “Same Time, Next Christmas,” starring Lea Michele. Timeless cartoons and beloved holiday films will also return. The fun continues after Christmas with New Year's-themed programming ringing in 2020.

The French Institute Alliance Fran aise (FIAF), New York's premier French cultural and language center, today announced the 2019 Crossing the Line Festival, featuring 11 performances and a gallery exhibition from a geographically, generationally, and artistically diverse group of artists whose work transcends genres and boundaries. All performances are world, US, or New York premieres; they are united by their convention-breaking fearlessness as they confront topics from social injustice to personal demons. Many of the performances pay homage to legendary artists of our time and previous eras, while the theme of migration and its transformational effects on identity informs several others. As 2018 comes to a close, we are reflecting on those we have lost in the Broadway and theatre communities throughout the year.

Anastasia will welcome new cast members to the Broadhurst Theatre this winter. Beginning Tuesday, December 18, original company member Constantine Germanacos will rejoin the hit Broadway musical as "Gleb." Emmy Award Winner Penny Fuller will assume the role of the "Dowager Empress" the week of January 7.

Artists Claudia DeMonte and Ed McGowin donated more than 100 works by self-taught artists to the Mississippi Museum of Art. They were subsequently honored at the Museum's annual Rembrandt Society Dinner held on November 1. The works represent part of their personal collection of sculptures, paintings, and assemblages.

ABC celebrates the most wonderful time of the year with special '25 Days of Christmas' programming starting Dec. 1. The network joins Freeform, Disney Channel, Disney XD and Disney Junior in this fan-favorite TV event. The 'Kickoff to Christmas' begins in late November with perennial holiday treat 'Santa Claus is Comin' to Town.' The month of December is filled with special Christmas-themed episodes, the return of 'The Great Christmas Light Fight' and 'The Great American Baking Show: Holiday Edition,' and timeless animated classics and holiday films. The celebration continues after Christmas with New Year's-themed programming ringing in 2019.

Apples from New York will be given to the more than 50,000 runners who are projected to cross the finish line at this year's TCS New York City Marathon on Sunday, Nov. 4, in Manhattan's Central Park.

When miserly Ebenezer Scrooge is visited by ghosts of the past, present and future on Christmas Eve, he is threatened with a bitter and lonely future or offered redemption if he changes his selfish ways. The ghosts take Scrooge on a journey through his life and teach him the real meaning of Christmas along the way. Featuring hit songs such as "Thank You Very Much" and "I Hate People."
