November 26 through December 5, Pontine Theatre presents, A New England Christmas, an annual event featuring the work of favorite regional authors.  This year the program includes two seasonal stories:  Honey & Myrrh (1898) by Hampton Falls’ Alice Brown and The Old Peabody Pew (1905) by Buxton, Maine’s Kate Douglas Wiggin.

The New York Innovative Theatre Awards has announced the recipients of the 2020-21 Honorary Awards. The Honorary Awards and recipients are Caffe Cino: The Parsnip Ship; Ellen Stewart: The Indie Theatre Fund/IndieSpace; Artistic Achievement: Penny Arcade/Steve Zehentner; Outstanding Stage Manager: Rachel April and more.

After a highly successful performance run in 2019, Bright Star returns to The Firehouse Theatre this September as a concert production! Bright Star features over 20 beautiful songs and tells a beguiling tale that unfolds in the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina between 1923 and 1945. Billy Cane, a young soldier just home from World War II, meets Alice Murphy, the brilliant editor of a southern literary journal.

San Francisco Opera inaugurates its 99th season and first under the baton of Caroline H. Hume Music Director Eun Sun Kim, with five performances of Giacomo Puccini's Tosca, August 21–September 5.

Leo Sowerby: The Paul Whiteman Commissions & Other Early Works features Sowerby's Synconata and Symphony for Jazz Orchestra ('Monotony') with British-born, Chicago-based trombonist, composer, and conductor Andrew Baker leading the Andy Baker Orchestra, an ensemble of professional musical theater and classical instrumentalists recruited specifically for the project.

The cast is led by returning company member Cassie Jo Fastabend (New Muses' Lysistrata) in the role of Joan. She will be joined by an exciting ensemble of new and returning actors including David Breyman (Shakespeare in Love at Tacoma Arts Live) as Charles VIII, Ben Stahl (Frankenstein) as the Inquisitor, Eric Cuestas-Thompson (Ghosts) as the Chaplain, and Tacoma theatre mainstay Joseph Grant as Cauchon.

San Francisco Opera announced today repertory, casting and reopening plans for its 99th season. L.A. Theatre Works has commissioned a new audio theater adaptation of the classic Agatha Christie “whodunit” The Murder on the Links.
