Pasadena Playhouse has announced the 2022/2023 Season featuring a six-month-long celebration of the works and impact of Stephen Sondheim.  The State Theater of California’s Sondheim Celebration will begin in January 2023 and extend into June.  Find out what shows are included and the full schedule.

The New York Premiere of the BroadwayWorld Award-winning A Black and White Cookie by Gary Morgenstein, directed by Marcello Rollando, will play The Tank Theater (312 West 36th Street New York, NY 10018), July 9-24.

American Blues Theater has announced the cast of August Wilson’s Fences, directed by Monty Cole. The intimate and up-close production of the Pulitzer Prize-winning drama will play to a capacity of 60 people per performance from July 1-August 6, 2022, at Theater Wit,1229 W. Belmont Ave. 

After celebrating its 25th Anniversary in residence at Theater Wit—a season that featured the world premiere, acclaimed hit Relentless, which went on to an extended run at Goodman Theatre—the company will return to its longtime home in Chicago’s Lakeview East neighborhood, located at 615 W. Wellington Avenue, for three productions.

TFANA has extended the run of Alice Childress’s Wedding Band, directed by Awoye Timpo, to May 22. (The production, which began previews April 28—postponed from an original date of April 23 due to two COVID-19 cases—was formerly set to close May 15).

With a little poetic license and some help from one of the show's most famous lines, the Tony Award winning 42nd Street presented by Fleet Landing will open at Jacksonville's iconic Alhambra Theatre & Dining on May 12 for a limited four-week run. The tenth longest-running show in Broadway history is celebrating is 42nd anniversary, having opened on August 25, 1980 at the Winter Garden Theatre.

The Pulitzer Prize Board has just announced that Fat Ham has won the 2022 Pulitzer Prize for Drama. Other finalists included: Selling Kabul, and Kristina Wong, Sweatshop Overlord.

REWIND, a time-bending musical tale of lost dreams and the magic of second chances, was inspired by twin brothers Sam and Geoffrey Rose's experience of making music in the 1980's and ‘90s.

TADA! Youth Theater presents in-person week-long musical theater summer camps where children create and perform a brand new musical every week, all summer long! Summer camps take place from July 11th through August 26th for children, ages 5-11, Monday through Friday, 10AM – 5PM, at TADA! Youth Theater, 15 West 28th Street in Manhattan. Children will be divided into groups by their ages.

Producers Brian Anthony Moreland, Sonia Friedman and Tom Kirdahy announced additional cast for the revival of August Wilson’s seminal, Pulitzer Prize-winning drama The Piano Lesson, the first Broadway revival in more than 30 years since the play’s Main Stem premiere in 1990.

George Street Playhouse has announced the appointment of Nadiyah S. Dorsey as the new Director of Education.

Pioneer Theatre Company will present the record-setting Broadway hit, Hello, Dolly! as the closing musical for the current season. The turn-of- the-century romance, bursting with music and energetic dance will run from May 13 through May 28, 2022.

The Verdi Chorus kicks off its 39th season with their Spring Concert, Hélas mon Coeur, dedicated to the memory of Verdi Chorus patriarch Maestro Aurelio De La Vega, for two performances only at the First Presbyterian Church in Santa Monica on May 14 and 15. 

Artistic Director Jeffrey Cass and Executive Director Julie Ann Kornak will present the final show of BrightSide Theatre’s 10th Anniversary Season – BrightSide is Back! The twice postponed production closes out the season with the music of ABBA in the musical that has entertained over 60 million people around the globe -  Mamma Mia!

Silvino da Silva, who has served as acting executive director since late 2020, has been chosen as the next executive director of The Ruth Page Center for the Arts by its Board of Directors, effective immediately.

Eden Espinosa, Joshua Henry, and Megan Hilty will raise the roof with a program specifically curated by The Soraya which include songs from the late Stephen Sondheim’s Sunday in the Park with George and Company, plus numbers from Wicked, Hamilton, Carousel, and more.

Porchlight Music Theatre has announced its 28th season that includes the 2022 – 2023 Mainstage, Porchlight Revisits and New Faces Sing Broadway series. Mainstage and Porchlight Revisits performances take place at The Ruth Page Center for the Arts, 1016 N. Dearborn Street.

On Easter Sunday, April 17, Seán Boulware will return to Carnegie Hall's Stern Auditorium / Perelman Stage under the auspices of MidAmerica Productions to conduct Mark Hayes' Gloria. Joining him onstage are vocal soloists Sydney Kucine, soprano; Jenni Bank, mezzo-soprano; Joseph Sacchi, tenor; and Erik Earl Larsen, baritone.
