Music Theatre of Denton is proud to announce auditions for RAGTIME, the Broadway musical based on E.L. Doctorow's distinguished 1975 novel. With a book by Terrence McNally and music by Stephen Flaherty and Lynn Ahrens, RAGTIME is considered one of the best musicals on the past several decades. For Music Theatre of Denton, Kyle Christopher West directs with John Norine Jr. serving as musical director and Elizabeth Cantrell as stage manager. RAGTIME runs February 22nd - March 3rd.

Ben Lockwood, Rupert Henderson and Oliver Kaderbhai today announce the full cast for the hit Off-Broadway musical Striking 12 from Tony Award-winning Rachel Sheinkin and musical duo Brendan Milburn and Valerie Vigoda. Oliver Kaderbhai directs Declan Bennett (Brendan), Bronte Barbe (The Match Girl), Danielle Kassarate (Narrator), with Kate Robson-Stuart and Leon Scott completing the cast. Inspired by Hans Christian Andersen's The Little Match Girl, Striking 12 will open at the Union Theatre on 3 December, with previews from 28 November and runs until 23 December.

Boxcar Theatre is proud to announce a partnership with SF Sketchfest next year, titled SF Sketchfest at The Speakeasy: An Immersive Comedy Experience. The nationally recognized festival celebrates its 18th season, January 10 - 27, 2019, and for the first time Boxcar will co-produce six SF Sketchfest shows while its immersive hit, The Speakeasy, remains on hiatus. The Speakeasy will close for the holidays after the matinee on Sunday, December 2, with new shows starting on Thursday, January 31, 2019. The complete schedule for SF Sketchfest will be announced on November 16, and tickets will go on sale November 18 at boxcartheatre.org/sketchfest.

A whole lot happened in Oz before Dorothy dropped in, and Wicked has been telling that story to Broadway audiences for 15 years at the Gershwin Theatre. The milestone won't go by uncelebrated, as in just days, NBC will throw a joyous Halloween party for the ages, featuring songs from the blockbuster musical hit and a cavalcade of special guest stars, including Tony Award winners Idina Menzel and Kristin Chenoweth. Additional guest performers include Ariana Grande, Adam Lambert, Ledisi, Pentatonix and the current Broadway company of 'Wicked.'.

On October 5, a new title joins the genre when A Star Is Born, starring Bradley Cooper and Lady Gaga, is released. Polarity Ensemble Theatre has closed its doors for good. The company, incorporated in 2004, was known for developing and producing new work by local playwrights and for innovative productions of classics. Polarity mounted 22 full length productions, 10 of which were world premiere scripts developed in the company's DIONYSOS CUP FESTIVAL OF NEW PLAYS series. The company also published five books, some of which will remain in print.
