It was just announced by the Pulitzer Prize organization that Katori Hall's The Hot Wing King has officially won the 2021 Pulitzer Prize for Drama. This year's finalists included Circle Jerk by Michael Breslin and Patrick Foley and Stew by Zora Howard.

Hope Mill Theatre has announced that its production of the classic rock musical RENT will play to audiences this summer. After only being able to perform 5 live shows last autumn prior to lockdown, the production will run for a strictly limited season from 6th August to 19th September 2021.

Loosely based on Puccini's La Boheme, RENT was written by 29-year-old composer, Jonathon Larson, whose ultimate dream was to write a rock opera that would bring musical theatre to the MTV generation. He set the play amid poverty and homelessness in the then rough East Village neighborhood of Manhattan.

On January 25, 1996, Rent premiered at the New York Theatre Workshop. Earlier that morning, the show's writer and creator, Jonathan Larson, died of an aortic aneurysm.
