Adam Schlesinger was a prodigious and prolific songwriter, producer and multi-instrumentalist. He died on April 1 at the age of 52 as the result of complications from COVID-19.

The 65th Annual Drama Desk Awards will celebrate the life and legacy of American theater producer and director Harold 'Hal' Prince with the Drama Desk's newly established lifetime achievement honor.

With the current theatre world on hiatus, I have created a Spotlight Series on Broadway World which features interviews with some of the many talented artists who make our Los Angeles theatre community so exciting and vibrant thanks to their ongoing contribution to keeping the Arts alive in the City of the Angels. Today Pennsylvania Ballet announced a dynamic new season, 'Magic of Stories,' complete with fairytale full length stories, world premieres at the Perelman Theater from choreographers with long-time ties to the company and a sparkling tribute to George Balanchine. Pennsylvania Ballet will also highlight local organizations for each production, including Career Wardrobe and the Audubon Society.

TheatreZone, a professional Equity theatre in Naples, Florida specializing in Broadway musicals, announces its 2020-2021 season shows. They are: Home for the Holidays (Dec. 11-13, 2020); Curtains (Jan. 7-17, 2021); Bright Star (Feb. 4-14, 2021); Camelot (March 4-14, 2021); and The Bridges of Madison County (April 15-25, 2021).

BroadwayWorld is saddened to report that legendary Tony Award winning composer and lyricist Jerry Herman has passed away. He died in Miami on December 26, due to pulmonary complications. He was 88 years old.

This morning, the Pittsburgh Cultural Trust announced the complete programming lineup for Highmark First Night Pittsburgh 2020. Starting at 6 p.m. on December 31, 2019, acclaimed local, national, and international artists will animate the Cultural District and ring in the New Year. Two Zambelli fireworks displays, the signature New Year's Eve Parade and its famed giant puppets, the 'Countdown to Midnight,' and raising of the Future of Pittsburgh Ball complete the celebration.
