Saxophonist Mike Phillips Releases Smooth-Jazz Track

Internationally renowned award-winning Saxophonist Mike Phillips has released a new smooth jazz single, 'City Lights.'​​​​​​​ 'CITY LIGHTS' was written by Claude Villani and produced by Hamilton Hardin. 'I had the melody for City Lights in my head for years and one day I played it for Mike and he really connected with it and well, the rest is history,' mentions Claude Villani. 'It always reminds me of a summer day when I hear it,' he adds.

Legendary Broadway Producer Liz McCann Dies at 90

ELIZABETH IRELAND McCANN, the iconoclastic Broadway producer who won nine Tony Awards during a 60-year career in theater, died after a bout with cancer on Thursday, Sept. 9, 2021 at Calvary Hospital in the Bronx, according to her longtime associate and friend, Kristen Luciani.  She was 90 years old.

Franklin Stage Company Awarded Preserve New York Grant

Franklin Stage Co. is one of this year's Preserve New York (PNY) grantees. Their grant of $5,200 will fund a Building Condition Report of their historic building, Chapel Hall. The Broadway community mourns the loss of multiple Tony Award® winning producer Margo Lion, who died on January 24, 2020 at age 75. To commemorate her life and work, the Committee of Theatre Owners will dim the lights of the Jujamcyn Theatres (the Al Hirschfeld, August Wilson, Eugene O'Neill, St. James, and Walter Kerr Theatres) where Ms. Lion often collaborated and worked; as well as the American Airlines, Bernard Jacobs, Helen Hayes, Neil Simon, New Amsterdam, Lincoln Center, Lyric Theatre, and Samuel J. Friedmans; in New York for one minute on Saturday, February 29 at exactly 7:45pm.

This year, the owners of The Montalbán, Ricardo's son in law and President of The Montalbán Company, LLC, Gilbert Smith, and daughter Anita, have plans to expand the theatre's musical performances, beginning with The Company Men on February 21 and 22; and The Soul of Broadway Starring Terron Brooks on February 28 and 29.

The Montalbán Theatre in Hollywood Will Present 12 Pop-up Movies For Groundhog Day & Valentine's Day

The Montalban is a special place. The Ricardo Montalban Foundation became the proud owners and operators of this historic venue in 1999. The building has a glorious history of "firsts" and in 2009, after over seventy years of theatrical, screened and broadcast entertainment inside the theatre, it became the first structure in Hollywood's 21st century to curate entertainment on its rooftop. Between sports-related, high-energy dance, film screenings under the stars and other public and private events, The Montalban will be celebrating its first decade of outdoor activities on its multifaceted rooftop in 2019 - all year long! To kick-off its alfresco decade, it's hosting pop-up movie screenings starting on February 1st, just in time for Groundhog Day, with a trio of Harold Ramis comedies before the official season of Rooftop Movies at The Montalban returns in April. Films will include Animal House (Fri. 2/1), Groundhog Day ON Groundhog Day (Sat. 2/2) and Caddyshack (Sun. 2/3 ). For Valentine's Day The Montalban will host another pop-up with over a week of romance-themed film screenings from Friday, February 8th through Sunday, February 17, 2019.
