After a forty-year absence, and to celebrate one hundred years since the birth of Guido Cantelli - the great conductor from Novara - the Conducting Competition that was created in his memory comes to life again and takes on a strong international connotation while focusing on the younger generations. The competition has its natural home in the Teatro Coccia of Novara in Italy. Registrations for the Competition will open from 1 March to 30 April 2020: conductors of all nationalities, between the age of 18 and 35 will be eligible to participate. Candidates will undergo a preselection based on their CVs and video recordings. From 9 to 12 September the finalists will fulfill the competition's assignments from the podium of the Orchestra del Teatro Regio in Turin and will be examined by a jury made of internationally renowned artists and cultural personalities. The second and last round of the finals will take place in Novara on 13 September. 

Grand Rapids Pops has announced the shows coming to its stage in its 2020-21 season.

Theater 2020, Brooklyn Heights' only professional and award-winning theater company, presents the first NYC revival of the Sondheim/ Lapine musical Sondheim on Sondheim, a revue that brings many of this musical genius' works together to create quite a show in itself. The Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center (CMS) today announces the details of its 2020-21 season. Titled Bridging the Ages, Co-Artistic Directors David Finckel and Wu Han look to the work of Franz Schubert a?" whose music is the subject of CMS's Winter Festival a?" as the inspiration for the season. Schubert was the bridge from the Classical to Romantic age, connecting musical ideas between eras. Taken as a whole, the season will show how compositions from the earliest years of the chamber music repertory link to compositions in the middle and later years of the genre, leading to a dynamic musical presentation that encourages audiences to imagine the compositional voices of the future. The new season will also expand CMS's commitment to free digital access to chamber music through a new partnership with Tencent for the Chinese-language audience.

Lincoln Center Theater's upcoming production of the new musical Flying Over Sunset is officially in rehearsals! Helen Forrester, the author who spawned a genre of gritty, working-class memoir with her book, Twopence To Cross The Mersey, is to be honoured with a blue plaque as part of her 100th birthday celebrations. The B.B. King Blues Band are thrilled to announce their new partnership with The B.B. King Estate. This joint venture now finds the two forces working together to bring the world The B.B. King Experience, the band's new working name. New Amsterdam Singers (NAS), led by Music Director Clara Longstreth, will present Through the Seasons, featuring Robert Paterson's 'I Go Among Trees' - a World Premiere commissioned by NAS in honor of its 50th anniversary. The three-movement work by the New York-based award-winning composer is written for chorus and marimba on texts by Wendell Berry, May Sarton, and John Freeman; Makoto Nakura is the marimba soloist. The concert will be performed twice: Friday, March 20, 2020, at 8:00 pm at Broadway Presbyterian Church, Broadway at 114th Street, and Sunday, March 22, 2020, at 4:00 pm at The Theater of St. Jean Baptiste, 184 East 76th St.

Two years ago, Roger Q. Mason paid tribute to Billy Porter, the 2018 recipient of the Chuck Rowland Pioneer Award, by performing in a reading of Porter's semi-autobiographical play, As I Yet Live. Now, 2020 is Mason's year - and he is kicking it off, following in Porter's fabulous footsteps, as this year's Chuck Rowland Pioneer Award recipient.  The award ceremony will take place on Tuesday, June 23, 2020 at 7:30 pm at the West Hollywood Council Chambers (625 N San Vicente Blvd, West Hollywood, CA 90069).  Details of the program will be announced in the coming months.
