The Thornton Wilder Library – a reprint of 10 novels and plays covering the full range of the late, celebrated author's inimitable body-of-work – will be completed this summer with the new publication by HarperCollins of Wilder's first and third novels, THE CABALA and THE WOMAN OF ANDROS in one volume.

The Juilliard School will hold its 117th commencement ceremony on May 20, 2022, at 10:30am. The ceremony will be held outdoors on the Lincoln Center campus in Damrosch Park, presided over by Juilliard President Damian Woetzel. After 100 years of producing musicals, comedies and dramas, Theatre Memphis has (like any other theatre lucky enough to be around this long) produced its fair share of 'clunkers' and 'classics.' Some of them were 'classics' which turned out to be 'clunkers,' but many of them, as of late, have turned out to be 'classics' that have been made to feel fresh and relatable (which is no small feat). Most community theatres across America pull out well-known titles as they rely more on the title of the show to fill the seats rather than on the actual people pulling the show together.

Veteran TV and film actor, director, writer and producer Ted Lange – best known for his 10-year run on the ABC-TV series “The Love Boat” -- has signed on to direct a staged play reading of the Thornton Wilder classic “Our Town” for Los Angeles Inner City Cultural Center this Saturday, April 16 at 3pm in the McGowan Hall Little Theatre on the UCLA campus.

This week I saw productions of two decades-old musicals, each written by one of theatre's great composer/lyricists, which, in their original productions, ran a combined total of nine performances on Broadway.

PEN America today announced writer and Emmy Award-winning late night host Seth Meyers, who has uplifted countless authors’ voices—as the host for the organization’s 2022 Literary Awards, which return this year as a momentous in-person event, on February 28 at New York City’s Town Hall (123 W 43rd St).

Our Town is a 1938 metatheatrical three-act play by American playwright Thornton Wilder which won the Pulitzer Prize for Drama. The play tells the story of the fictional American small town of Grover's Corners between 1901 and 1913 through the everyday lives of its citizens.

DTC will present the production with English and Spanish spoken throughout the production. It features translated passages by Nilo Cruz and Jeff Augustin. DTC's production is the first Wilder production in the 125th year-long celebration in 2022. 

What a conundrum for an artist. Is it more effective to deliver art to an audience by any means necessary or to have the 'vehicle' for displaying it match the work itself? For example, when it comes to the theatre, can a whisper ever truly be a whisper? Such is the dilemma for any theatre since 1938 producing Thornton Wilder's OUR TOWN.

Shakespeare '70 will present “Our Town,” weekends January 21 through January 30, 2022 at the Kelsey Theatre on the West Windsor campus of Mercer County Community College.

Continuing its tradition of performing in true rotating repertory, Asolo Repertory Theatre will kick off its 2022 rep season with the Pulitzer Prize-winning drama OUR TOWN. Thornton Wilder’s magnificent play is, at its heart, about us, and perhaps no other play rings truer today.

The Theater Lab, a District 214 Community Education program, will return to the stage and announce its cast of the classic play, Our Town. The production will be a limited four-performance run, December 10-12, 2021, at Forest View Educational Center in Arlington Heights.
