Flushing Town Hall will celebrate New York's diverse and vibrant Asian American dance scene when it presents Part One of the Virtual CrossCurrent Choreographic Festival on Friday, June 26 at 7:00 PM. Produced by the Nai-Ni Chen Dance Company andfocused exclusively on emergent choreographers, the festivalwill include performances and panel discussions with the participating artists and selection committee.

Flushing Town Hall will celebrate the life and legacy of NEA Jazz Master Jimmy Heath, the Music Director of the Queens Jazz Orchestra, in a virtual tribute a?" a?oeI'm Back Swinging Again! a?" on Friday, June 19 at 7:00 PM. Mr. Heath, who passed away in January at the age of 93, had been due to return to Flushing Town Hall's stage with his orchestra that evening.

651 ARTS, Brooklyn's premier institution for the African Diasporic performing arts, today announced  the launch of its inaugural Artist As Resident Initiative with a call for submissions for The Neighborhood Project, a program under the Initiative  focused on emerging creatives. The Artist As Resident Initiative centers around Brooklyn's collective of artists and the diverse neighborhoods throughout the borough they represent and will include The Neighborhood Project, the Micro-Works Project for online content and community-building, and the Artist-As-Resident Feature Presentation Series.

It was just announced by Pulitzer Prize Administrator Dana Canedy that Michael R. Jackson's A Strange Loop has officially won the 2020 Pulitzer Prize for Drama. This year's finalists included: Will Arbery's Heroes of the Fourth Turning and David Henry Hwang and Jeanine Tesori's Soft Power.

Motown legends The Four Tops and The Temptations have announced that Odyssey will join them as special guests on their UK tour in November. The UK chart-toppers have been confirmed as special guests for all dates except Liverpool. Native New Yorker was a UK Top 5 hit for Odyssey in 1977 and the trio fronted by Lillian Lopez followed up with a string of UK hits in the eighties.

From February 27 to March 29, Woodie King, Jr.'s New Federal Theatre will celebrate both Black History Month and Women's History Month with an Off-Broadway production of 'Two Can Play' by Trevor Rhone, directed by Clinton Turner Davis, at Castillo Theater, 543 West 42nd Street. In this two-act comedy, Gloria and Jim, a lower middle-class couple in Kingston, try their wildest schemes to escape gun crime and establish residence in the United States. They survive because they learn to communicate and rediscover each other. Playwright Trevor Rhone was the artistic giant of Jamaican theater. The play celebrates the pent-up need for self-discovery and personal development in Jamaican women, a theme which is also universal. Director is Clinton Turner Davis, who helmed the comedy's New York premiere in 1985.

'Individual Artist' grant was recently awarded by NYS Council on the Arts to The Little Orchestra Society (L.O.S), to commission a contemporary piece retelling an ancient Mayan legend: The Monarch of Uxmal!
