Stewart Copeland's Police Deranged for Orchestra is a high-energy orchestral celebration of legendary rock star and composer Stewart Copeland and his career as the founder of one rock's most beloved bands, The Police.

He has been nominated for an Academy Award, two Emmy Awards, an MTV Movie Award for Best Villain, and a Golden Globe Award. Some of Beatty's most notable films included Deliverance (1972), Network (1976), Friendly Fire (1979), Hear My Song (1991), and Toy Story 3 (2010).

For only four performances the past two weekends, the Châtelet in Paris was alive again with the sound of musicals we’ve been missing so much here. It was just announced by the Pulitzer Prize organization that Katori Hall's The Hot Wing King has officially won the 2021 Pulitzer Prize for Drama. This year's finalists included Circle Jerk by Michael Breslin and Patrick Foley and Stew by Zora Howard.

L.A. Theatre Works presents the world premiere of a new play based on an extraordinary true story. The Philly POPS announced today the dates for the 2021–2022 Lights Up! Showtime! season, a dynamic new lineup featuring eight exciting shows, with all-new programs and returning fan-favorite guest artists. 

I sat down with a few of the companies in Calgary’s theatre scene to talk to them about how they’ve survived the lockdown. Over the next few weeks, I’ll introduce you to them. First up: JP Thibodeau is the Artistic Director of StoryBook Theatre, one of Canada’s largest TYA (theatre for young audiences) companies.

The film series is virtual, consisting of the film and post-film panel discussion with the filmmaker and additional panelists. The film series runs on Thursdays, April 8, April 15 and April 22 at 7 p.m.

The criteria are that these shows have been nominated for Best Musical from the 3rd Tony Awards (the ceremony that started the Best Musical category) in 1949 to the nominations of what will now be the 74th Tony Awards in 2021. I will be determining their signs based upon their Broadway premiere date. With those rules in mind, here we go!

On Friday, April 2, 2021, Steinway & Sons releases SIMPLE MUSIC, a complete recording of the rarely heard book of 33 miniatures from music for stage and screen by Georgia's legendary composer Giya Kancheli, performed and reimagined by two intrepid masters of their instruments: pianist Jenny Lin and accordion virtuoso Guy Klucevsek. 

The Board of Trustees of the Museum of Russian Icons has announced the death of founder Gordon B. Lankton. After opening a branch of his plastics manufacturing company in Moscow in 1992, he came to appreciate Russian culture, particularly the icon, the emblematic sacred art form stemming from the Byzantine traditions of the Russian Orthodox Christian faith.

PS CLASSICS has announced the release of All the Girls – the new album from Rebecca Luker and Sally Wilfert – on CD online and in stores today, Friday, March 5. It was released in digital and streaming formats in December. The album marks the final recording by Ms. Luker, a Broadway luminary for over 30 years, who passed away late last year.
