Playwright/performer J. Elijah Cho’s award-winning MR. YUNIOSHI comes to the Santa Monica Playhouse November 11th and 14th as part of CRAZY WOKE ASIANS’ KUNG POW FESTIVAL and as a guest production December 5th, 12th and 19th. The titular character was the supporting character in the otherwise classic 1961 film Breakfast At Tiffany’s starring Audrey Hepburn and George Peppard. Mr. Yunioshi was beyond stereotypically portrayed by Mickey Rooney.   

Prevented by the lockdown in 2020 from staging their usual seasonal show - a tradition that had been running for over 15 years - Greenwich Theatre are ecstatic to be making their festive comeback with a version of the rarely staged traditional pantomime The Queen of Hearts.

COME FROM AWAY is a story that everyone should see so it is wonderful that the Australian production has had the resilience to withstand the challenges of two COVID-19 induced shutdowns, first during its Melbourne season and most recently during Sydney’s 4-month lockdown.

A couple of weeks ago, I was the stage manager of “The Golden Era”, a Tap Dance show directed by Carolina Guzmán, my tap teacher and mentor. The show managed to take the audience on a journey back in time, to a jazz club in the 40’s, with a live jazz band and tap dancers swinging along with the rhythm. Being part of this show was a big deal to me because tap is part of who I am.

Television actor and West End performer Ben Richards will lead the cast as Gaston. He is best known for his roles in Hollyoaks, Footballers Wives, Holby City and The Bill.  He will be joined on stage by Lauren McCrory as Belle; Kelly Sweeney as Fairy Rose; Lewis Devine as French Frank; Jamie Greer as Potty Polly; James Lacey as Madame Botox; and Benjamin Keith as the Beast.
