Hennepin Theatre Trust has announced that Grammy, Emmy, and twice Tony Award-winning singer, composer, director, author, actor, and playwright Billy Porter will bring his BLACK MONA LISA TOUR: VOLUME 1 to Minneapolis on Tuesday, May 23, 2023.

GRAMMY, EMMY, and twice Tony Award-winning singer, composer, director, author, actor, and playwright Billy Porter will embark on the BLACK MONA LISA TOUR: VOLUME 1, kicking off next month. 

The New York City-based Riverside Choral Society, led by director Patrick Gardner, will present A Celebration of Love and Joy on Tuesday, April 4, 2023 at 8:00 p.m. at Carnegie Hall's Stern Auditorium / Perelman Stage.

Nearly four years after the release of her stunning third solo album The Ballad of the Runaway Girl, Inuk singer-songwriter Elisapie has returned with “Uummati Attanarsimat (Heart of Glass)” an Inuktitut rendition of Blondie's 1979 hit. Translated from English to Inuktitut by Elisapie, and produced by her long-time collaborator Joe Grass.

PYO Music Institute (PYOMI) and its partners will continue recognizing outstanding music teachers through the 10th Annual Ovation Award. This award recognizes inspiration and leadership in music education. For over ten years, hundreds of current and former music students have shown appreciation for their music teachers through Ovation Award submissions. Beginning on March 6, 2023, current and former students of all ages are invited to nominate “the music teacher who changed my life” in a 250-word essay.

Alberta Cross released a cover of Sharon Van Etten’s “Every Time The Sun Comes Up.” Sinking Ships was written mostly at the The Wool Hall in Frome Somerset with Petter’s long term producer and collaborator, Luke Potashnick - Luke recently renovated The Wool Hall (legendary in part due to Van Morrisson and Tears for Fears recording albums there).

Lost Memories is a multi-screen video installation that draws on screenwriter Gary Thomas’ experience of being a carer to his mother, who has Alzheimer’s Disease. Combining documentary phone footage with fictional sequences, Gary Thomas’s film installation at The Curve this spring will offer a moving and poignant insight into his lived experience as a caregiver. 

Veteran indie-pop singer-songwriter-pianist Andrew McMahon in the Wilderness is gearing up for the release of his new studio album, Tilt At The Wind No More, next month and has released one more offering from the forthcoming collection with the piano ballad, “Nobody Tells You When You’re Young.” Plus, check out tour dates!

The West Philly mainstay will bring audiences into the off the wall comedy of Spymonkey's The Complete Deaths, all 75 onstage deaths from William Shakespeare performed in a wild, fast-paced, physically comedic ride. The Complete Deaths runs March 9-April 1. Opening Night is  Saturday, March 11 at 8 p.m.

Birdland Jazz Club and Birdland Theater has announced jazz programming running February 21 through March 5. Performers appearing at Birdland Jazz Club include Jane Monheit, Earl McIntyre's Tribute!, Amanda Green & Friends, James Carter 'Lookin at the Lock' Music of Eddie Lockjaw Davis and Manuel Valera New Cuban Express Big Band.
