The Axelrod Performing Arts Center reunites with Luis Salgado and the team from Salgado Productions for their third collaboration, "Elton John and Tim Rice's AIDA," opening May 31, 2019. Previously for the theater, Salgado directed and choreographed "In the Heights" in 2017 and "Ragtime The Musical"  in 2018, both of which received nominations for best regional production of a musical.

Broadway In Chicago is announcing that there will be a digital lottery and rush tickets for FALSETTOS which will play Broadway In Chicago's James M. Nederlander Theatre (24 W. Randolph).

Totem Pole Playhouse, America's summer theatre, located in Caledonia State Park between Gettysburg and Chambersburg, PA, has announced a major change in its programming format starting this summer. Beginning May 31st through September 8th, a new 5-show summer subscription series will be offered. The new format will allow Totem Pole to offer a wider variety of offerings beyond the limited productions which the Playhouse produces. In addition to the new 5-show offering there will be several "Friday Fun Nights" throughout the summer which will include family movie night sing-alongs complete with picnic dinners and solo shows featuring performers from Broadway and Television.

It's that time of the week, theater lovers! With the weekend set to kick off at any moment - personally, we like to consider Thursday morning at 12:01 a.m. the official start of the weekend (that's directed primarily to the Dowager Countess of Grantham who quite clearly didn't understand what actually constitutes a 'weekend') - so we are back with a few suggestions of our own to help make your job easier. Connecticut Repertory Theatre (CRT) announces casting for the first production of the 2019 Nutmeg Summer Series: "Mamma Mia!," the Tony Award-nominated musical based on the songs of ABBA.  The cast includes Broadway actors Jessica Hendy (Broadway's "Cats," "Aida"), Jennifer Cody (Broadway's "Shrek", "Urinetown" & CRT's "Noises Off"), Lauren Blackman (Broadway's "Anastasia"),  and Bradley Dean (Braodway's "The Last Ship", "Dear Evan Hansen"). Nettle Creek Players, a 501c3 not-for-profit arts organization in Hagerstown, Indiana, has announced its 2019 troupe of visiting professional theatre artists who will live in the community for nine weeks as they prepare and present the Nettle Creek Players 2019 Summer Stock Tent Theatre Season featuring productions of JOSEPH & THE AMAZING TECHNICOLOR DREAMCOAT, GERSHWIN & FRIENDS: A BROADWAY SONGBOOK CABARET, and RUMPELSTILTSKIN, OR THE FAIRIE'S SECRET NAME. Performances of JOESPH will be at 7:30pm on July 5, 6, 12, 13, 19, 20, 25, 26 & 27 & 5:00pm on July 7 with GERSHWIN & FRIENDS at 5:00pm on July 14, 21 & 28 and RUMPELSTILTSIKIN at 11:00am on July 20 & 27. The York Theatre Company recently presented its one-night only concert version of the newly re-imagined version of the beloved Broadway hit musical I Do! I Do!, with book and lyrics by Tom Jones and music by Harvey Schmidt, based on the play The Fourposter by Jan De Hartog. York Theatre favorite David Glenn Armstrong (Roadside, Happy Hunting) directed with music direction by David Hancock Turner (York's Desperate Measures).

Mel Brooks' The Producers - the Broadway smash hit musical that cleaned up at the Tony Awards in 2001 - is presented by Murfreesboro's Center for the Arts starting tonight, March 22, and running through April 7. Directed by Chris McLaurin and Natalie Quinn (who last teamed up for the First Night Award-winning Pirates of Penzance at CFTA), the zany comedy features a cast led by John Frost Jr. and Tucker Young and Max Bialystock and Leo Bloom.

Bay Street Theater & Sag Harbor Center for the Arts announces A Star is Born: The Concert, on Saturday, April 13 at 8 pm. The show features a number of Broadway' finest singers, from shows such as Cats, Crazy for You, Aida, and more. Bay Street audiences will remember director/performer Scott Coulter from Music Monday's Stephen Schwartz & Friends and the 8-Track Memories concert. 

 The 5th Avenue Theatre has announced an incredible six-show lineup for its 201920 season. First, The 5th will stage a lavish production of Austen's Pride, A New Musical of Pride and Prejudice. For the holidays, The 5th will create a brand new staging of Shrek The Musical, which premiered at The 5th in 2008. The New Year kicks off with Stu for Silverton, which continues its developmental journey as a part of The 5th's New Musical Development Program. Next comes a joyful 5th Avenue Theatre original production of Sister Act, followed by an exclusive, limited two-week engagement of Once On This Island. The season will close with an original staging of the epic masterpiece, Evita. Additionally, The 5th will host a one-week run of the national tour of Jersey Boys.

River City's about to get the last thing they expected ? and the very thing they need ? in The Music Man. Goodspeed Musicals kicks off its 2019 season with the rip-roarin' dance-filled classic running April 12 - June 20 at The Goodspeed in East Haddam, Conn. [Official Press Opening will be May 1, 2019].

Theatre By The Sea is proud to have been recognized with a total of ten awards - nine of which were for last summer's unprecedented five-week sold-out run of Mamma Mia!

Na Willemijn Verkaik speelt ook Freek Bartels een van de hoofdrollen in Aida in Concert. Van 20 tot en met 30 juni vindt op het festivalterrein van Autotron in 's-Hertogenbosch zes keer het openluchtconcert van Aida in Concert plaats. Freek vertolkt de rol van Radames. Willemijn Verkaik speelt de rol van Amneris. Na twee uitverkochte edities van Elisabeth in Concert in 2017 en 2018 geeft Stage Entertainment deze zomer aan deze traditie een vervolg met Aida in Concert. Net als bij Elisabeth in Concert zullen de bezoekers van het musicalconcert dezelfde festival-sfeer op en rondom het terrein ervaren. Met de fantastische muziek van Elton John, een top cast en een 14-koppig orkest, beleeft het publiek een onvergetelijke avond uit in de open lucht. Freek Bartels verheugt zich op de rol.
