The Williamston Theatre Presents THE FIRE TOUR, a historic audio tour that details five fires that occurred in the Williamston business district in 1877, 1895, 1915, 1928, and 1938, and how those fires shaped the landscape of the town over the past 150 years. The tour allows the listener to walk through Williamston to each location and listen to the stories through eyewitness recollections and commentary from Williamston historian Mitch Lutzke. It features the voices of residents David Jones and Cloyce O'Dell, with narration by Emily Sutton-Smith.

The New York Philharmonic will return to Bravo! Vail in Colorado for the Orchestra's 18th annual summer residency there, performing six orchestral concerts July 22a?"29, 2020. Jaap van Zweden will return to Vail as Philharmonic Music Director, conducting four concerts featuring works by Wagner, Barber, Tchaikovsky, Mozart, Mahler, Beethoven, and Steve Reich. Bramwell Tovey will return to Vail with the Philharmonic to lead two concerts: an evening of music by Stephen Sondheim and Bernstein, and a program of works by Tchaikovsky and Berlioz. The soloists include violinist Gil Shaham, pianists Beatrice Rana (in her Philharmonic and Bravo! Soho Rep. today announced technology entrepreneur Victoria Meakin-a board member of seven years-as the organization's new Chair, and acclaimed poet, playwright, and MacArthur Fellow Claudia Rankine as a new board member. The 2019-20 season of the Oratorio Society of New York, the city's standard for grand choral performance led by its acclaimed music director, Kent Tritle, is highlighted by two premieres that reflect its 146-year history: the U.S. premiere of a new critical edition of a Brahms masterwork that the Society performed in 1877; and the world premiere of A Nation of Others, an OSNY-commissioned oratorio for soloists, chorus, and orchestra by composer Paul Moravec and librettist Mark Campbell on the subject of immigrants' arrival at Ellis Island.

The Hollywood Bowl presented Siudy Flamenco Dance Theatre and Los Angeles guest artist, dancer Manuel Gutierrez with percussionist Diego Alvarez and the Los Angeles Philharmonic for an evening of fabulous Flamenco music and a production of El Amor Brujo. With the Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra, conducted by Palio Bortolameolli, the first half of the evening began, playing an extraordinary Ravel piece, 'Alborada del gracioso,' or 'Morning Song of the Jester' that was a perfect intro for the evening ahead. Originally composed as a piano piece, it became part of a full length composition entitled 'Miroirs' and has a definite Spanish influence to it, akin to the seguidilla. Different sections went from a wide sweeping melody by the string and wind instruments, to pizzicato violins and harps hinting of Flamenco rhythms and a descriptive bassoon solo passage that led to an intricate full-sounding, rich ending.
