The Actors Fund, the national human services organization for everyone in performing arts and entertainment, announced today that SiriusXM Broadway host Seth Rudetsky and his husband, producer James Wesley, will produce a daily mini-online show, entitled Stars in The House, featuring stars of stage and screen singing and performing live (from home!) on social media to promote support for The Fund's services for those most vulnerable to the effects of Coronavirus (COVID-19).  

The Third Avenue Playhouse, located in historic downtown Sturgeon Bay, announces its lineup of six plays for the upcoming 2020 season. The plays include an early career work from playwright David Mamet, a 1964 musical by the legendary composer and lyricist Stephen Sondheim, a multi-award winning classic about the unlikely friendship between an elderly lady and her driver, the story of an unconventional advice columnist, and a farcical take on the making of Gone With The Wind.

Andrew Leeds, a Groundlings main company member, follows in the long line of his talented Groundlings cohorts in landing an episodic gig. Andrew plays David, the brother of the titular Zoey in NBC's new Sunday night hit Zoey's Extraordinary Playlist. Actor/singer/writer Andrew agreed to parcel out some time from his multi-tasking to answer a few of my inquiring enquiries.           

The story of Newfoundland and the town of Gander was a chance to remember the good in so many. COME FROM AWAY is an amazing true story of how 7,000 people were stranded in Gander and how the good in everyone was quickly discovered. BWW was able to chat recently with Andrew Samonsky who plays Kevin and other characters in COME FROM AWAY as it begins its week in San Antonio, Texas at the Majestic Theatre.

Following the official release of his “I KNOW MORE NOW” CD on February 21, award-winning actor and cabaret singer BRIAN De LORENZO will dazzle Greater Boston audiences with music from his new album and some past favorites, at a concert on Wednesday, March 18 at Harvard Square's OBERON, 2 Arrow Street, Cambridge. Mayo Performing Arts Center in collaboration with the Dodge Poetry Program presents a free Arts in the Community event, 'I am deliberate and afraid/ of nothing: Poetry & Protest,' featuring Pulitzer Prize winning writer Tyehimba Jess, Thursday, March 19 at 7 pm at St. Peter's Parish Hall (across from MPAC) at the corner of Miller Rd and Maple Avenue in Morristown. This event is free.

Center Theatre Group has announced its 54th season at the Ahmanson Theatre, which features Hadestown, Dear Evan Hansen, The Prom, To Kill a Mockingbird, and more!

11th Hour Theatre Company and Cardinal Stage team up to present the fourth-wall smashing musical sensation, HEDWIG AND THE ANGRY INCH. This production will be directed by 11th Hour co-founder and resident director, Megan Nicole O'Brien, and star another 11th Hour co-founder and local favorite, Steve Pacek, in the title role. This wickedly funny rock musical will first have performances in Philadelphia before crossing state lines to run at Cardinal Stage in Bloomington, Indiana. I didn't walk away humming many of the melodies, there are very few solos songs to speak of a?? and yet, I am forever changed by the story of the kindness of the strangers from Gander, Newfoundland, Canada. COME FROM AWAY is the a?oelittle musical that coulda?? a?? it restores a small piece of your heart and your faith in humanity. Don't miss it.

On Sunday, December 29th, Michael Moricz released a new song for the New Year's holiday that he has dedicated to the memory of the late Fred Rogers, much-loved host of MISTER ROGERS NEIGHBORHOOD on PBS. Moricz was music director for the final five years (1996-2001) of the PBS children's series.
