Today’s subject Liz Mikel is currently living her theatre life on tour playing Dr. Benjamin Franklin, delegate from Pennsylvania, in the Roundabout Theatre Company production of 1776. The show is currently running through July 16th at Kennedy Center’s Eisenhower Theatre.

Marika Aubrey was born and raised in Newcastle, New South Wales, Australia. She emigrated to the US six years ago and currently resides in New York City. She is currently on tour with COME FROM AWAY, portraying Captain Beverly Bass. I had the chance to chat with her about her life and career both on and off the stage.

That's the truth I'm hoping to be a part of. I'm hoping to be a part of a movement where the face of black men isn't just always so frownish. They're just more opportunities to see men as fathers who love the opportunity to be a father. I'm hoping that the writing gives that opportunity for us to see a black man enjoying being both a husband and a father and his voice in the community and what that meant and how reverberated in his community. That's important to me.

The next Musical Theatre Melodies broadcast, hosted by Rob Morrison on 96.5 FM on Tuesday, August 31st will mark the 50th anniversary of Claibe Richardson and Kenward Elmslie's THE GRASS HARP (based on the novel and play by Truman Capote), the 1971 Broadway musical which starred Barbara Cook, Karen Morrow, Carol Brice, Russ Thacker, Ruth Ford and Max Showalter.

In 1985 Great Performances on PBS presented a television special titled 'The Best of Broadway' that featured Tom Bosley hosting a treasure trove of performers from the American Musical Theater performing the numbers that they made famous on the Broadway stage.

Billy Recce is an up and coming composer and lyricist that I had the pleasure of seeing first perform a series of his comedy songs at the Duplex about a year ago. Quickly, he's gained some recognition for his work over the course of this past year on 'A Musical About Star Wars.' Impressed, when I heard about his CD release, I jumped at the opportunity to interview him for Broadway World.

She held one of Seventy-Six trombones, she heard about Hugo and Kim during The Telephone Hour, and she got to Sail Away with Elaine Stritch. She is Patti Mariano one of the Golden Age's busiest child actors having appeared in the original productions of The Music Man, Bye Bye Birdie, Sail Away, I Had A Ball, George M, Godspell, Rags, The Full Monty, and the 2001 production of 42nd Street. 

For its 22nd consecutive year, the west coast Actors Fund celebrated Broadway's Biggest Night at their 22nd Annual Tony Awards® Viewing Party on Sunday, June 10, 2018 at the Skirball Cultural Center in Los Angeles, CA. This year's gala honored Tony-nominated book writer ('Wicked') and Emmy-nominated writer and producer ('My So Called Life') Winnie Holzman with the Julie Harris Award for Artistic Achievement. Kirsten Vangsness hosted with special appearances by Shoshana Bean, Wilson Cruz, Paul Dooley and Jessica Marie Garcia. BroadwayWorld's own Michael Sterling caught the action on the 'green' carpet with many of the night's celebrity guests for BWW TV Los Angeles.

As previously announced, Feinstein's/54 Below will proudly present an evening of trunk songs by one of America's most celebrated composers, Charles Strouse, on Sunday, May 13th at 7:00pm. The one-night-only concert will salute the three-time Tony Award-winner with some of his best trunk songs, featuring material cut from some of his hit musicals, as well as songs that have never found their way to the stage, including numbers from the never-completed Star Wars musical. The legendary songwriter will sign copies of his celebrated memoir, Put On A Happy Face, after the performance.

Actress/stand-up Jackie Hoffman took the world by storm with her electric performance as Mamacita in Feud: Bette & Joan last year on Fox TV. She has since played in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory on Broadway and is now bringing her new one-woman show Memoircita! to the LGBT Center May 11-13. Hoffman took time from her busy schedule to give us the dope on what to look for in her new show. We all loved you as Mamacita in Feud: Bette and Joan. Was this a difficult characterization for you? Two decades after it was previously performed at the National Theatre, Rodney Ackland's Absolute Hell returns to the very stage it played back then: the Lyttelton. With a career spanning over two decades too across stage and screen, Charles Edwards is no stranger to the National Theatre. Catching up during rehearsals, Charles spoke to us about his 'innate connection' to the play, and reveals the greatest challenge he's faced in his career (which came only last year).

The acclaimed Second Act Series, which has presented an array of lesser-heardmusicals in concert, will present the beloved musical comedy Nunsense on Monday, March 19th. For three nights, six talented singers will take to the stage performing many of Jerry Herman's beloved musical numbers from Mame, Mack and Mabel, Hello, Dolly! and La Cage Aux Folles.

Two-time Tony Award winner Helen Gallagher has joined the cast of the previously announced 70, Girls, 70 concert at FEINSTEIN'S/54 BELOW, Broadway's Supper Club. Ms. Gallagher, who will serve as the evening's narrator, joins a starry cast of Broadway veterans in the 1971 Kander and Ebb-tuner, set for April 17th, 2017 at 7:00pm and 9:30pm. A portion of the evening's proceeds will benefit The Lillian Booth Actor's Home.

Still witty, smart and funny at 95 years of age, the legendary comic Marty Allen was hosted (not roasted) at a Friars Club lunch.  Emmy Award winning Friar Bill Boggs interviewed Marty about his long career in show business.  Marty worked as an opening act for stars such as Sarah Vaughan, Eydie Gorme and Nat King Cole gained enormous fame when he teamed up with singer Steve Rossi and made 44 appearances on The Ed Sullivan Show.  In 1961 and 1962 Allen appeared on Broadway in Let It Ride! at the Eugene O'Neill Theatre and then went on to perform in the pre-Broadway tour and Broadway performances of I Had A Ball.

?The Harbor Lights Theater Company brings this hilarious musical sensation to Staten Island's Snug Harbor this summer starring a cast of Broadway veterans.

Veteran performers Jim Brochu and Steve Ross have known one another since the 1970s, an era when New York was filled with piano bars, cabaret rooms, and nightclubs. Pause for a deep, wistful sigh. Framing their new show, Two Guys and a Grand (last Wednesday night at the Laurie Beechman Theatre), in the kind of friendly antagonism and winking shtick popular during vaudeville, the two very different performers manage to be both broad and classy.

The circus is coming to the Durham Performing Arts Center from May 12th-17th in the form of the national touring production of the Tony Award-Winning revival of Pippin! In this national tour happens to be John Rubinstein, who originated the title role in the orginal Broadway production back in 1972. Now he plays Pippin's father Charlemagne, a role originated on Broadway by Eric Berry, and more recently in the 2013 Broadway revival Three-Time Tony Nominee by Terrence Mann.
