Once, the musical that broke new ground on Broadway, will begin rehearsals in Fort Myers on August 6, 2019.  Winner of eight 2012 Tony Awards including Best Musical and winner of the 2013 Grammy Award for Best Musical Theater Album, ONCE is a truly original Broadway experience. The musical is based on the 2007 Academy Award-winning film of the same name which was written and directed by John Carney, and starred Glen Hansard and Marketa Irglova, with original music and lyrics by Mr. Hansard and Ms. Irglova.

The story, music and delivery, takes one by surprise settling right into the middle of the heart and morphing raw emotion through the veins; simply 'taking over'. The daily norms of behaviour evaporated and I was 'in' the show. I was transported to a place of primal emotion that pushes past control to a place earthed in the rawness of connection and love. The very essence of human emotion, need and desire juxtaposed against 'how it should be' is brought to the fore in a beautiful simplicity. Jesse Peach's vision of simplicity and allowing the emotion to be 'enough' had to be cleverly crafted. Illumination of humanity within simplicity hard to acheive and he's done just that.

Sydney audiences finally get to experience the wonderful music and heartwarming story of ONCE  with Richard Carroll's (Director) delightful interpretation of the musical adaptation of John Carney's movie. 

Theatre Communications Group (TCG), the national organization for theatre, announces the recipients of the first round of the 2019 Edgerton Foundation New Play Awards. The awards, totaling $509,000, allow 13 productions extra time for the development and rehearsal of new plays with the entire creative team, hoping to extend the life of the world premiere play after its first run.

With a book by Joe Masteroff, music by John Kander and lyrics by Fred Ebb, this musical masterpiece marks the 11th annual summer musical presented by Sierra Stages. "Cabaret" is based on the play by John Van Druten and stories by Christopher Isherwood.

San Francisco's 42nd Street Moon presents the Bay Area regional premiere of 2012's Tony Award-winning 'Best Musical' ONCE. Based on the 2007 motion picture written and directed by John Carney, ONCE features a book by Enda Walsh (2012 Tony Award-winner, 'Best Book of a Musical') and a score by Glen Hansard and Marketa Irglova (including the 2008 Academy Award-winning song 'Falling Slowly'). 42nd Street Moon's production of ONCE runs from June 12 - 30, 2019 and will perform at San Francisco's Gateway Theatre (215 Jackson St, San Francisco, CA 94111). One of the most celebrated musicals of all time, Once will embark on its first major UK tour from January 2020.

The National Theatre has announced 15 productions of new plays and fresh adaptations by leading writers.

Internationally acclaimed violinist, Gregory Harrington, will perform at NYC's landmark Beacon Theatre on Saturday, June 1st at 8 pm (doors at 7 pm). Harrington will open for the Oscar-winning, Grammy-nominated artist Glen Hansard, who starred in the film, Once. Like Hansard, Harrington was born in Ireland and will also be releasing his fourth album this year. The album, titled Without You, is set to hit all digital music streaming sites on June 7, 2019.
