The cast of 'ANNE FRANK, a musical', based on Anne Frank's life will feature 12 artists on stage to recreate Anne Frank's life filled with the touching music and lyrics written by Jean Pierre Hadida. This production marks the U.S Off-Broadway Premiere of this successful French musical which will be performed for the first time in English (adapted by Dylan Hadida). Directed and produced by David Serero, this new Off-Broadway production will take place at the Center for Jewish History (15 West 16th Street New York 10016), originally produced by Francine Disegni for Broadway Mad Production, Simon & Michal Kalfon.

San Diego Repertory Theatre presents the world premiere musical 33 1/3 - House of Dreams. Written by local San Diegans Jonathan Rosenberg and Brad Ross, with additional contributions by Steve Gunderson and Javier Velasco, the debut production chronicles the success of Gold Star Recording Studios through the history of rock 'n' roll.

Everyone loves a little nostalgia, especially when it comes to their favorite television shows and movies growing up. For millennials and Gen Z-ers, these probably include a few DCOMs (Disney Channel Original Movie) and series. Several of the stars of these films and TV shows have gone on to further their acting and singing careers on Broadway, and some even got their start on the stage. Theatrical licensor Music Theatre International (MTI) has announced the hit, holiday show Elf The Musical is now available for licensing in the U.S. and Canada for 2019 and 2020. Due to contractual obligations, after 2020, the show will go back into the MTI vault.

Broadway, brace yourself for the return of Aaron Tveit! Tveit has had an extremely successful and diverse career, on stage and screen, but Broadway has been missing him since he wrapped up in Catch Me If You Can in 2011. Nine revolting children take center stage in the San Diego Regional Premiere production of Roald Dahl's Matilda The Musical at the Moonlight Amphitheatre July 17 through August 3 at 8 p.m. The Tony Award-winning musical is inspired by the twisted genius of British author Roald Dahl (novels Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, The BFG among others; and the screenplays of Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory and Chitty Chitty Bang Bang) and is brought to life on The Moonlight stage by the creative team of Director Jamie Torcellini, Choreographer Colleen Kollar Smith, and Music Director and Conductor Elan McMahan

As part of its popular Summer Jazz Series, the Cultural Council of Palm Beach County will be presenting a concert next month by Broadway and cabaret star Avery Sommers. The series is presented in collaboration with the Palm Beach International Jazz Festival.

San Diego Repertory Theatre (San Diego REP) announced today that they will be partnering with the San Diego School of Creative and Performing Arts (SDSCPA) and R & R Productions, LLC for the world premiere musical 33 13 - House of Dreams. Written by local San Diegans Jonathan Rosenberg and Brad Ross, with additional contributions by Steve Gunderson and Javier Velasco, the debut production chronicles the success of Gold Star Recording Studios through the history of rock 'n' roll. The production will feature direction and choreography by Javier Velasco with musical direction and arrangements by Steve Gunderson. 33 13 - House of Dreams will run August 1 - 25, 2019, at San Diego REP's Lyceum Stage Theatre, with previews August 1 - 6, and press opening on Wednesday, August 7 at 7:00 p.m.

The Cape Playhouse at the Cape Cod Center for The Arts, under the leadership of Producing Artistic Director Michael Rader and Executive Producer Joe Grandy, opened its 93rd season last night with Oscar Wilde's The Importance of Being Earnest directed by Matt Lenz.

BroadwayWorld has learned that that Broadway Stars and real-life couple Diana DeGarmo and Ace Young will headline the First National Tour of the musical comedy First Date. Although DeGarmo and Young were both contestants on 'American Idol,' their 'first date' was during the Broadway production of HAIR in 2010. After dating for three years, they tied the knot in 2013 and immediately starred in the National Tour of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. They will share the stage once again beginning fall of 2020. First Date is written by Austin Winsberg (book) with Alan Zachary and Michael Weiner (music and lyrics) and this newly updated production will be directed by Matt DiCarlo (NYNational Tour: The Play That Goes Wrong). Bay Street Theater is pleased to announce THE PROMPTER, the first production of the 2019 Mainstage Season, had a successful opening night on June 1. The show runs through June 16. This World Premiere stars Tovah Feldshuh (Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, The Walking Dead, Golda's Balcony) and Wade Dooley (Jersey Boys), who is also the playwright. The 72nd Annual Tony Awards are this Sunday June 10th at 8/9c hosted by Josh Groban and Sara Bareilles. It's the biggest award show of the Broadway season and it closes out a long awards season for Broadway and Off-Broadway musicals and plays. We can't help but wonder what chances this year's Best Musical and Best Play nominees have of taking home the ultimate prize...

This summer Goodspeed Musicals will produce the heartwarming new musical Because of Winn Dixie. This touching tale based on the award-winning novel by Kate DiCamillo will run June 28 - September 1 at The Goodspeed in East Haddam, Conn.

On Sunday June 16th, The Marvelous Wonderettes, currently playing Off-Broadway at Theatre Row, will take its final bow.  The show had initially ended its three year run in January, but returned for Sunday performances shortly thereafter.  Returning for the final performances as Missy Miller is Kristy Cates (Wicked, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Finding Neverland); who starred in the show in 2016. 

The 2019 Tony nominees are already winners... literally. For some, this marks their first nomination, but others have already won Tony Awards in seasons past. We took a look at which nominees have won at least a Tony or two (or nine) - amongst them, they've gathered a total of 69 awards!

I had the pleasure of seeing A Bronx Tale with my friend Cassy, who had NEVER seen a musical before! (I know, right?!) I invited Cassy because the 1993 movie, off which the musical is based, is her favorite. Seriously, her cat is named Calogero, after the lead character in both the movie and the play. I was excited to see this show, and especially excited to see it through the eyes of a neophyte theater goer. I was not disappointed!

The National Theatre's 2019-2020 Broadway at the National season continues with an unprecedented lineup of a dozen shows.

Rehearsals begin today for Sue Townsend's The Secret Diary of Adrian Mole aged 13¾ - The Musical, which will open at the Ambassadors Theatre for a limited season from 15 June until 12 October 2019, with a Gala Night on Tuesday 2 July. The musical has book and lyrics by Jake Brunger, music and lyrics by Pippa Cleary and direction by Luke Sheppard.

Broadway Veteran, Estonians, and an Irishman, team up to bring the legendary story of the Singing Revolution to the New York theatre community. The production is initiated by an American director/choreographer, Tony Spinosa, and Irish co-book writer, James Bearhart. The story is inspired by the Estonian emancipation from the Soviet Union in 1991

Susan Egan took to Instagram to share a note written by Matthew Morrison to her following a concert in 1996. Egan wrote 'In 1996 I did a little concert at my high school alma mater, the Orange County School of the Arts - alongside some of the current students. I just found the program they signed for me and will now take FULL CREDIT for Matthew Morrisons's career and happiness.'

Steve Martin and Martin Short will bring their critically acclaimed comedy tour Now You See Them, Soon You Won't for the first time to Australian and New Zealand audiences in November. This celebrated comedy show redefines the form in unexpected and profound ways, from two of the funniest, most influential and acclaimed talents of the past century. Over the course of each Broadway season, unexpected and unique storylines inevitably pop up. This morning, with the announcement of the 2019 Tony Award nominations, a number of new narratives have come to life.
