What makes a Broadway theatre? Technically any venue with 500 seats or more, located along Broadway in New York City's Theatre District is a Broadway theatre, and the art that is produced in these special places is widely considered the highest form of theatrical entertainment in the world. Today, forty-one theatres are technically Broadway houses, each with their own rich history. Below, we're giving you the scoop on the life of every one of them!

Seven-time multi-platinum selling country groupALABAMA has added almost 30 new concert dates to their historic '50th Anniversary Tour.' Today, the band revealed 28 additional arena and amphitheater shows as they continue their cross-country trek celebrating five decades of music.

The Harold Ramis Film School ("HRFS") at The Second City announced today that it has partnered with NBC to create the Emerging Voices Scholarship that will be awarded to students from diverse backgrounds to study at the world-renowned comedy film school. The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts hosts more than 120 outstanding theater students from colleges and universities across the nation as part of the 50th annual Kennedy Center American College Theater Festival (KCACTF), which runs April 16-20, 2019 in multiple locations throughout the Center. The Center also announced the national awardees for the KCACTF. Pipeline Theatre Company has announced full casting for the world premiere of jazz concert-party-play hybrid Playing Hot, created by Kevin Armento (Balls) and Jaki Bradley (1969: The Second Man). Playing Hot is written by Armento and C.A. Johnson (Thirst), will be directed by Bradley, and will feature musical supervision by Marcus Miller. Playing Hot will begin previews at Theater 511 (511 West 54th Street) on April 18, 2019, and officially open on May 2, playing a limited engagement through May 12, 2019. New York Live Arts (Live Arts) to present the New York premiere of Netta Yerushalmy's Paramodernities, March 14-17, 2019, having commissioned the work as part of the Live Feed Residency Program. The complete six-part encyclopedic series is a multidisciplinary work that weaves theory and performance into a four-hour-long hybrid event. Yerushalmy and a cast of 20 dancers and scholars, ranging in age from 20 to 68, perform deconstructed installments of Nijinsky's “Sacre” (1913), Graham's “Night Journey” (1947), Ailey's “Revelations” (1960), a mix of Cunningham works “Rainforest,” “Sounddance”, “Points in Space”, “Beach Birds”,  and “Ocean” (1968-1990), dance numbers from the 1969 Fosse's film “Sweet Charity”, and a response to Balanchine's “Agon” (1957) that includes none of the original choreography.

Beginning March 2, history unfolds around everyday lives in August Wilson's TWO TRAINS RUNNING at Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park. Part of Wilson's American Century Cycle, the masterpiece play portrays ordinary people swept up in a rapidly changing world against the backdrop of the civil rights movement. TWO TRAINS RUNNING is presented in the Marx Theatre by Moe and Jack Rouse and Randolph Wadsworth through March 30. Opening night is Thursday, March 7.

The BNS production of JITNEY was quite a treat in late 2017, but this season's August Wilson offering, TWO TRAINS RUNNING, is even richer and more refined.
