3-D Theatricals (3DT) rings in its 2017-1018 season at both the Redondo Beach Performing Arts Center (RBPAC) and the Cerritos Center for the Performing Arts (CCPA) with Mel Brooks' Young Frankenstein, a musical comedy from the Broadway creative team of the 12-time Tony Award winning smash hit The Producers. The production, with music and lyrics by Brooks and a book by Thomas Meehan, is a hilariously tuneful show based on the 1974 smash hit film Young Frankenstein which was a wickedly inspired re-imagining of the Mary Shelley classic from the comic genius of Mel Brooks. David Lamoureux directs with Corey Hirsch serving as Musical Director and Daniel Smith as Choreographer. San Jose State University's Department of Film and Theatre presents Picasso at the Lapin Agile, written by Steve Martin. In this award-winning absurdist comedy, a fiery young Albert Einstein happens upon an equally youthful Pablo Picasso in a Parisian bar in 1904, when both are on the cusp of their first successes. They lock wits in a hilarious battle of ideas about painting, probability, lust, and the future of the world. This production will be directed by SJSU Theatre Arts Lecturer Kirsten Brandt with evening performances November 3, 4, 8, 9, 10, and 11 at 7pm and one matinee performance November 9 at 11am. San Francisco Ballet, long recognized for pushing boundaries in dance, has announced its 2017-18 Season program and schedule. This summer, SF Ballet will return to Festival Napa Valley for one performance only on Friday, July 21, 2017, accompanied by members of the SF Ballet Orchestra.
