Tickets for the fully reimagined production of Ntozake Shange's groundbreaking for colored girls who have considered suicide/when the rainbow is enuf, directed and choreographed by Tony Award nominee Camille A. Brown (Once On This Island, Choir Boy, co-director and choreographer of Fire Shut Up in My Bones) are now on sale for the general public.

The fully reimagined production, directed and choreographed by Tony Award nominee Camille A. Brown begins performances at Broadway’s Booth Theatre (222 West 45th Street), home to the original 1976 production, on Friday, March 4, 2022, with the opening night set for Thursday, March 24th, 2022.

Marking the third anniversary of iconic playwright Ntozake Shange’s passing, Camille A. Brown, director and choreographer of the upcoming 2022 Broadway production of Shange’s seminal work, for colored girls…who have considered suicide/when the rainbow is enuf, shared a statement in commemoration of Shange’s legacy.

Producers Nelle Nugent, Ron Simons and Kenneth Teaton announced today that Tony Award nominee Camille A. Brown will direct the upcoming production of Ntozake Shange’s for colored girls who have considered suicide/when the rainbow is enuf on Broadway in 2022. This will mark Brown’s directorial debut on Broadway.

Legendary playwright/poet Ntozake Shange’s for colored girls who have considered suicide/when the rainbow is enuf will be produced for Broadway by Nelle Nugent, Ron Simons and Kenneth Teaton.

Let's pause to note that it was the first Broadway show written by a Black woman since Lorraine Hansberry's RAISIN IN THE SUN in 1959.

For the first time in over 20 years the Bay Area will have the chance to experience Ntozake Shange's For Colored Girls When The Rainbow is Enuf. This transformative and riveting evening of provocative dance, music and poetry tells the stories of 7 individual women dealing with the at times brutal, tender and dramatic arcs of their lives.
