Tony Award Winning Producer Irene Gandy Honored With The 1st Annual 'Shattered Glass Ceiling Award'

Tony-Award Producer/Press Agent Irene Gandy received the M.Power Arts 1st annual "Shattered Glass Ceiling Award" for (Breaking barriers in your Professional Life) at the Synchroncity Theatre in Atlanta, Ga.

Irene Gandy is the only Black female member of ATPAM (Association of Theatrical Press Agents and Managers) on Broadway. She is a Tony-Award winning producer on Broadway for The Gershwin's' Porgy and Bess and was a producer for Lady Day At Emerson Bar and Grill starring Audra MacDonald. Gandy's recent productions include American Son starring Kerry Washington. China Doll starring Al Pacino, Fiddler on the Roof ,You Can't Take It With You, starring James Earl Jones and Sylvia starring Matthew Broderick. She currently serves on the board of HARLEM WEEK and The New Heritage Theatre. In 2008, she became the first female press agent to be immortalized with a Sardis caricature. Gandy recently launched the Irene Gandy Fur Collection designed by Mr. Pete and was featured in the 2015 August issue of Vogue Magazine. "A Day in the Life Irene Gandy" a documentary is being produced by ONYX KEESHA FILMS and SHAUN JACKSON, will center around her life being the 1st African-American women Press Agent and Producer on Broadway for over the years .

The sold-out production was presented by M. Power's founder Onyxx Keesha and Executive Producer Letitia Coley .For colored girls who have considered suicide / when the rainbow is enuf is Ntozake Shange's and most acclaimed theater piece, premiered in 1976. It consists of a series of poetic monologues to be accompanied by dance movements and music, a form Shange coined choreopoems and tells the stories of seven women who have suffered oppression in a racist and sexist society. The cast of Colored Girls included SHANNON VICK (Purple), ALYSIA CUTTING (Blue).TIFFANY KYLE(Orange), LATICIA KING(Red), JAZZY LEWIS (Brown) TOYNAL DAVIS(Green) ASHLEY FORMAN(Yellow). Choreographed by MORGAN "Flowerchild "JONES.


Directed by Onyxx Keesha and Executive Producer Letitia Coley, M.Power Arts Productions is the brainchild of Driector/Actress/Activist/Host Onyxx Keesha who produces in Atlanta and New Jersey is dedicated to providing an artistic outlets for performers of ALL backgrounds. Recent productions include The Vagina Monologues, Fences, Raisin in the Sun.
