Yesterday, June 19, Actors' Equity Association, the labor union for professional stage actors and stage managers, presented the 2018 Advisory Committee on Chorus Affairs (ACCA) Award to the chorus of Once on This Island. The award, established in 2007, is given to what the committee votes on as the outstanding Broadway chorus of the season.

As BroadwayWorld previously reported, popular and influential songwriter and guitarist Lou Reed, most known for forming Velvet Underground has died at 71 according to Rolling Stone. No cause of death was revealed, but it's been noticed that the performer received a liver transplant back in May of 2013. BroadwayWorld remembers Reed with photos below.

Rob McClure, who originated the role of Chaplin at the La Jolla Playhouse, will star in the title role of the new Broadway musical CHAPLIN. A new musical depicting the life of film icon Charlie Chaplin, with music and lyrics by Christopher Curtis and book by three-time Tony Award-winner Thomas Meehan (Annie, The Producers, Hairspray) and Christopher Curtis, CHAPLIN will open on Broadway on Monday, September 10, 2012 at the Barrymore Theatre (243 West 47th Street). Previews will begin Tuesday, August 21, 2012. Acclaimed director/choreographer Warren Carlyle (Finian's Rainbow, Hugh Jackman, Back on Broadway) directs and choreographs the production. The 22nd Annual GYPSY OF THE YEAR Competition raised $3,776,720 for Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS, thanks to the tireless work of 63 participating Broadway, Off-Broadway and national touring companies, it was announced Tuesday. Since 1989, the 22 editions of GYPSY OF THE YEAR have raised a total of $44,137,415 to benefit BC/EFA.
