The Man Who Tried to Feed the World tells the story of Norman Borlaug, an American agronomist who won the 1970 Nobel Peace Prize for his efforts in fighting global hunger. By increasing the world's food supply, Borlaug made it possible for the planet to support far more people than had been thought possible, saving countless lives in the process. But in doing so, he unleashed a series of unintended consequences that tarnished his reputation and forever changed the environmental and economic balance of the world. Written, directed and produced by Rob Rapley and executive produced by Mark Samels and Susan Bellows, The Man Who Tried to Feed the World premieres Tuesday, April 21, 2020, 8:00-9:00 p.m. ET (check local listings) on AMERICAN EXPERIENCE on PBS, PBS.org and the PBS Video App.

American Composers Orchestra (ACO) continues its 2019-2020 concert season with The Natural Order on Thursday, April 2, 2020 at 7:30pm at Carnegie Hall's Zankel Hall. The concert features the world premieres of two new works commissioned by ACO that explore the complicated relationship between humankind and the natural world a?" On Friday, November 15th, the Police Athletic League (PAL) Acting Program took 107 students to SUNY Purchase College to the a?oeGlobal Festival of Arts, Culture & Ideas.a?? PAL students attended The Music and Dance Performance, a?oeHaiti Alive,a?? at the SUNY Purchase Performing Arts Center. The program included dance and a variety of intersections between Haitian folk music and the classical and jazz traditions. The performance featured professional artists, Steven Mayer, Rudy Perrault, dancers from the Purchase Conservatory of Dance and drummers, chamber musicians, jazz musicians, and orchestra musicians from the Purchase Conservatory of Music.

Gordon and conducted by Francesco Milioto, the rarely performed opera will have two performances on Thursday, December 19 at 7:30pm and Sunday, December 22 at 7:30pm at Zipper Hall at the Colburn School, located at 200 South Grand Avenue in downtown Los Angeles.

Theater Latté Da announces the cast of ALL IS CALM: THE CHRISTMAS TRUCE OF 1914, the poignant musical theatre work about the World War I Christmas truce, celebrating a homecoming after a successful Off-Broadway run in 2018 at the Sheen Center for Thought & Culture, for which it won a Drama Desk Award for Unique Theatrical Experience. Created by Peter Rothstein, the production combines period songs and firsthand accounts of this remarkable event and has become an annual holiday classic. Since its premiere in 2007, the a capella production is brought to life by a cast of 10 actor/singers and beautifully blends iconic WWI patriotic tunes, trench songs, medieval ballads and Christmas carols from England, Wales, France, Belgium and Germany with texts written by more than 30 World War I figures. This moving ode to peace is directed by Theater Latté Da's founding Artistic Director Peter Rothstein with vocal arrangements by Erick Lichte and Timothy C. Takach. The production will feature the talents of the Minneapolis-based cast who starred in the highly-lauded Off-Broadway run. ALL IS CALM premiered in a live radio broadcast on Minnesota Public Radio on December 21, 2007.
