The NY Kwanzaa Film Festival winner for Best Feature, 'Soul Doctor' will be screened at the Walton Theater (100 Selma Avenue) in Selma, Alabama on Sunday, March 1st at 4:30pm to celebrate Black History Monthand The Selma Bridge Crossing Jubilee, commemorating 'Bloody Sunday,' when a group of about 525 African American demonstrators gathered at Browns Chapel to demand the right to vote.An event that led to the famous Selma Marches led by the late Dr Martin Luther King, Jr. which was a turning point in public support for the Civil Rights movement.

Visión Latino Theatre Company (VLTC) will kick off their Fifth Season with a remount of Karen Zacarías, Just Like Us. Performances of Just Like Us will be held at Jedlicka Performing Arts Center (3801 S Central Ave, Cicero, IL). Visión Latino Theatre Company, is a 501(c)3 Not for Profit Theatre Company in Chicago, who produce and perform stories that break down racial boundaries. VLTC's mission is to open the minds of their audiences to Latinx struggles and perseverance through theatre.

An annual sold-out event that is an exclusive New York musical theater experience, BROADWAY BELTS FOR PFF! featured Broadway stars performing some of their favorite songs and original pieces to benefit the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation (PFF). The benefit began as a tribute to Michael Kuchwara, Associated Press theater critic, who died suddenly of pulmonary fibrosis in 2010. Julie Halston, a founding partner of the event, is one of the PFF's leading advocates nationwide and shined as the evening's host (Her Broadway credits include Tootsie, Hairspray, Gypsy, and You Can't Take It With You).

The Kwanzaa Film Festival presents a special Martin Luther King Jr. Day program, themed 'A Kwanzaa Response to a Hanukkah Tragedy' with a program that focuses on African American-Jewish Relations. The feature presentation is this year's 'Best Film' winner Soul Doctor - the Broadway movie-musical about the life of the 'rock star' rabbi Shlomo Carlbach and his history shaping relationship with music icon Nina Simone. The film will be shown on Monday, January 20th at 4pm at AMC Magic Johnson Harlem (2309 Frederick Douglas Blvd.) as part of their Gala Awards evening.
