Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts today announced artistic works celebrating iconic civil rights leaders, accessibility in the arts, and the rich history of dance in New York City coming to Restart Stages this September—the outdoor performing arts center created to champion the revival and recovery of New York City arts.

The script is based on Kenneth Grahame's beloved tale about a poetry-loving dragon. The youngsters who try to protect the dragon discover that it's difficult to hide such a large and talkative animal.  When the townsfolk learn of his existence, they hire St. George to slay him.  But does he?  Or do the good citizens realize that not all dragons are to be feared?

To commemorate the solemn anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks, the Utah Symphony will perform John Williams' “Hymn to the Fallen,” Elgar's “Nimrod” from “Enigma Variations,” Copland's “Lincoln Portrait” and Valerie Coleman's “Umoja: An Anthem for Unity” overlooking a powerful sea of red, white and blue flags representing each of the individuals who lost their lives during the attacks on September 11, 2001.

Maplewood Division of Arts & Culture has announced the lineup for the 2021 Springfield Avenue Gazebo Concert Series. Outdoor, live and in-person performances are scheduled for 7pm on Fridays from July 30th through August 27th and are free, family friendly, and open to the public.

If, like me, you’re not all that familiar with art songs by Black composers, Candace Johnson is here to show you what you’ve been missing out on. On May 22nd and 23rd, the acclaimed soprano and actress will perform her new show Music to My Ears - Hearing Adolphus Hailstork to kick off The Marsh’s new solo performance musical series The Art Songs of Black Composers on its digital platform MarshStream. Dr. Johnson will be joined by San Francisco Symphony pianist Marc Shapiro to shine a light on celebrated modern composer Hailstork’s song cycle Ventriloquist Acts of God, blending singing with theatrical storytelling to depict a university professor and her students discussing how to hear the music – and each other – in a whole new way. Immediately following the performance, Johnson and Shapiro will be joined by The Marsh Founder/Artistic Director Stephanie Weisman for a Q&A. Music to My Ears - Hearing Adolphus Hailstork will be streamed at 7:30pm PDT on Saturday, May 22 and 5:00pm PDT on Sunday, May 23. Prior to those performances, Johnson and Dr. Adolphus Hailstork will appear on Stephanie’s MarshStream at 7:30pm PDT on Thursday, May 20 to discuss his work. The Garden State Wine Growers Association (GSWGA), a non-profit organization of New Jersey-based wineries, vineyards, and allied businesses, hosted a Zoom presentation April 30, 2021 on the history of the Blaufränkisch/Lemberger grape by noted wine grape geneticist Dr. José Vouillamoz, best known for his foundational contribution to Wine Grapes.
