Blue-collar music veteran, John Vento has announced the release of his highly anticipated album, 'Brick By Brick,' on May 19th, 2023. The album has been in the making for three years and is a true testament to Vento's passion and dedication to his craft.

Starcatcher is written and recorded by the band—lead singer Josh Kizska, guitarist Jake Kizska, bassist/keyboardist Sam Kizska and drummer Danny Wagner—alongside Grammy-winning producer Dave Cobb (Chris Stapleton, Brandi Carlile). Recorded at the legendary RCA Studios in Nashville the band captured the energy of their renowned live performances.

The 2023 US edition of Jazztopad, from June 23-30, will feature a series of commissions from the acclaimed Lutosławski Quartet in collaboration with jazz piano luminaries Craig Taborn and Uri Caine, EMMY-winning composer Don Davis and sought-after bassist and composer Michael Bates. Iraqi-American trumpeter and composer Amir ElSaffar will also perform on opening night in a return Jazztopad engagement.

 In Composing the Future, a documentary now streaming for free on the Opera Philadelphia Channel, the company looks back on how that reputation was earned through the company's unique Composer in Residence program, which launched in 2011 as the nation's first comprehensive training program for artists wanting to learn how to write an opera. 

Ahead of the album, new song, “Killing Me,” featuring McKenna’s longtime collaborator, Hillary Lindsey, and written by McKenna, Lindsey and Luke Laird, is out now. Produced by GRAMMY Award-winning producer Dave Cobb (Brandi Carlile, Jason Isbell) and recorded at Cobb’s studio in Savannah, GA, 1988 serves as a love letter to her family and friends.

The Atlanta Opera has announced that five creative teams have been selected to participate in the second annual 96-Hour Opera Project, a composition competition and showcase that pairs composers and librettists to write ten-minute operas. Bringing their completed works to Atlanta, the teams will workshop and rehearse their productions over four days from June 9–12, with travel, housing, singers, pianists and rehearsal space provided.

Casting has been announced for a revival of a hugely popular production of The 39 Steps at Scarborough’s Stephen Joseph Theatre this summer. The show played to packed houses at the North Yorkshire theatre in the summer of 2018. The revival will be a co-production with Keswick’s Theatre by the Lake.

The fully renovated State Theatre New Jersey presents Dave Mason: Endangered Species Tour 2023 on Wednesday, June 7 at 7:30pm. Opening for Dave Mason is Southern rock group, The Georgia Thunderbolts. Tickets range from $29-$79.  

Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre has announced full cast and creative team for their forthcoming production of Robin Hood: The Legend. Re-written. 

Nelson and the band will continue to tour through this year in celebration of the new album, including a nine-show run across the UK and Ireland in June, as well as an extensive headline tour this summer into the fall—additional details to be announced soon. The forthcoming run will include select dates with Tedeschi Trucks Band in September.

Comedians and podcast hosts Ed Gamble and James Acaster have announced that, due to unprecedented demand, they are adding an additional extra date to their first ever live UK and Ireland tour for 2023. 

Chris' Jazz Cafe is hosting a tribute to Larry McKenna, one of the world’s finest jazz saxophone players, on June 16 & 17 at 8 and 10 p.m. The tribute shows will feature some of McKenna’s closest and dearest friends, including musicians Victor North, Aidan McKeon, Tim Brey, Dave Brodie and Dan Monaghan.
