Chicago Children’s Theatre, Chicago’s largest professional theater devoted to children and young families, announced its 18th season today, launching this fall with a fun, engaging and innovative three-show slate of in-person shows.

 Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater will return to Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts’ David H. Koch Theater June 15-19, 2022, for a six- performance engagement that caps a decade of Artistic Director Robert Battle’s leadership.

The current engagement of Tony, Olivier and Grammy Award-winning Jersey Boys at New World Stages will finish its run Sunday, May 22.

Yale Repertory Theatre has announced its 2022–23 season of four plays. The season will begin with Edward Albee’s Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf?, running October 6–29. James Bundy, who directed Albee’s A Delicate Balance at Yale Rep in 2010, will stage this new production of the explosively comedic and harrowingly profound masterpiece. 

The classic comedy Some Like It Hot will begin performances on Broadway this fall! It was announced today that the new musical will begin performances on Tuesday, November 1 and officially open Sunday, December 11 at  the Shubert Theatre (225 West 44th Street).  Find out who's in the cast and on the creative team!

Producer Antonio Marion has announced that Tony and Olivier Award-winning director, Rob Ashford, is set to direct a brand-new production of Sherlock Holmes, a stage epic by British writing team Rachel Wagstaff and Duncan Abel, with Akram Khan joining as choreographer.

American Lyric Theater (ALT) announced today InsightALT: Opera in Eden, a performance featuring three new one-act operas on themes of temptation developed by Resident Artists in the company’s nationally acclaimed Composer Librettist Development Program. ALT’s current Resident Artists (Composers Jasmine Barnes, Johanny Navarro, and Alex Weiser; and Librettists Joshua Banbury, Deborah D.E.E.P. Mouton, and Marcus Yi) were selected from over 200 applicants to join the CLDP this season. Opera in Eden, which is the culminating event of the first year of these artists’ residency, will take place at National Sawdust in Brooklyn on Tuesday, May 17th, 2022 at 7:00pm.

The Tony, Grammy and Olivier Award winning musical Jersey Boys is now offering two tickets for the price of one during NYC Off-Broadway Week, February 14 through February 27, 2022. Jersey Boys is playing at New York City’s New World Stages (340 West 50th Street) Stage 1, where it recently celebrated its 1,000th performance. 

Recipient of Broadway’s Tony, London’s Olivier and Australia’s Helpmann Awards for Best New Musical, Jersey Boys is the winner of 65 major awards and has been seen by more than 27 million people worldwide. It will return to the McCallum Theatre stage for five shows, from Friday, Feb. 25, through Sunday, Feb. 27.

I fell in love with Jersey Boys when I discovered the cast recording back in 2006. That recording turned me into a fan of the group The Four Seasons which I honestly didn't know before this. Granted I knew some of the songs, but I found it fascinating that also 'my elders' didn't really know the group either. Later I learned that they never toured outside the United states. That could be a reason why the band went under the radar. I saw the musical twice in London and once in Las Vegas although my jetlag almost killed that experience. I had to drink four Red Bulls to stay awake. Luckily I did not need any Red Bull during the Norwegian premiere of this show. The show itself was energy booster enough for me.

Shakespeare’s Globe has announced the full cast for the 2022 Playing Shakespeare with Deutsche Bank production of Macbeth, directed by Sarah Frankcom. This marks Sarah’s directorial return following her tenure as Artistic Director of LAMDA.
